Wind it up

Gwen Stefani returns with this new single from her upcoming album “The sweet escape” that drops early december. On the track she apparently gets production help from The Neptunes, they do a fine job of providing a crazy beat. She also manages to do some yodelling! Dunno about this but it’ll be a huge hit, for sure. (Thanks to some dude over at Fathertronix)

OMG. It sounds like the opening song from “Tomtarnas verkstad” on Christmas eve; at least like it would have sounded if the nazis in “Sound of music” sung it. And if the producer had been eating mushrooms.
I don’t think I like it at all.

    (can’t stop listening, though)

I almost admire it for it’s kookiness, but as an overall track? Fails. As a single? Bombs.

& yeah, people need to stop Aping M.I.A.

You can’t be her – sorry.

the neptunes no longer exist. that period is now completely over. all recognition or failure can be put on Pharell. when would anyone try to make worthy music? there’s not intention for good music when you’re rich, and when you’re not rich, you put every fiber of your life to make every single indisputably bomb. obviously this is not the case here.

[...] Discobelle’s got the first single from Gwen’s forthcoming The Sweet Escape (out 12/5). Give her (or the Neptunes?) points for unpredictability: that sample’s from Sound Of Music’s “The Lonely Goatherd.” And yes, there’s yodelling! As for the lyrics, nothing new: they’re about dancing, fucking, and John Galliano. On a scale of 1 to Shit Is Bananas, “Wind It Up” gets only a 4. But the bright side will be watching Fergie try to sample “Edelweiss” before XMas. [...]

this track feels like its trying to hard…I feel that gwen’s full potential is being propally shown here i.e. (pharrel’s -”can I have it like that”). It completely bites or so i say has the under tones of another artist such as “Peaches”. Man?, this is disappointing. Sad. So Sad. She must get back together with “No Doubt” like fast.

Everybody is posting this, so it should be the real deal, but I still can’t believe this not just a leaked, unfinished demo.. Pharell even drops “shit is crazy right” real casual, totally out of synch with the rhytm..

This is just plain awful. She really needs to get back with No Doubt if this is the kind of stuff she’s making these days.

Gwen inspires alot of people including myself, and this song simply shows another side of her style, the futuristic soud of music, I love the key idea and totally get the song.
