We got mail (week 48)

Here is the deal. We are not going to post all mixes or songs we get. We listen to it all and try to answer as many mail as possible but we don’t have time to do it the same day all the time.

That said. Here is an example on what you shouldn’t write after not getting an answer from us the same day. Next time we get a mail like this we will just delete it. But this time it was kind of funny.

X-mas

Christmas is upon us and this year is coming to a close, it’s been a great one for us and we would like to thank you all for supporting us.

Anyway, what better way to celebrate the upcoming holiday season than to dust off that old childhood memory known as the christmas calender. But, we’re doing it Discobelle style and will be providing you with our selection of the top 24 songs that we posted this year. Join us from the 1st of december (tomorrow that is) and all the way until the 24th (since that’s christmas eve for us Scandinavians) for a full run down of the hottest tracks this year.

Rehab

You heard Amy Winehouse here on Discobelle a few days ago when Ghostface appeared on her track “You know I’m no good”. “Rehab” is the first single off her newly released album “Back to black” which was produced by among others Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi. Here Hot Chip remixes the track and turns it into sounding more like one of their own tracks, sort of feels like a funky discotrack with the horns, the repetition of “hey” and the handclaps. The original is more on the soul/r n’ b tip.

Screw up

The remix of the banging “Grew up a screw up” is here, Ludacris join forces with Young Jeezy and Lil’ Wayne on this track. It outshines the original mostly due to the fact that both the Snowman and Weezy kills it as usual.

Bomb

The Digitalism track “Jupiter room” gets another remix treatment, this time it’s Erol Alkan’s turn to do his magic and he makes this into what could seriously be one of the best things that i’ve heard in quite some time. This track is a pure electrobanger with a steady beat throughout, but just wait for that break around the 3:00 mark and then again around the 6:00 mark. This should drop like a bomb on dancefloors. (Discobelle + Clitspit = true)

Hustlers

Could this in fact be the hip hop album of the year?

Another track (?) from the highly anticipated Nas album “Hip hop is dead”, this time Nas collaborates with The Game and production apparently comes from the good Dr Dre. Both Nas and The Game got an amazing flow on a beat that features some beautiful strings. You should all cop the album when it drops on December 19th.
