I love the fact that those are some of the worst promotional quotes ever, total backhanded compliments. And Fritz hasn’t worked for Vice in like, what, four years? It’s good that Club Promoter “X” reps for them though!
Seriously Discobelle, this post degrades you. 95% of the time your posts are on point, great stuff, but this is shit.

What i mean is that we don’t write the texts for the Mixin’ it up series. It’s up to the contributors and this was done tongue in cheek so just chill, listen and enjoy the mix instead.

For the naysayers: If you really appreciated music you’d be talking about how this mix takes you back to a time when Transformers, GI Joe, etc., were all new to us. I just wish they’d used the Stacy Q version of Two of Hearts. Doesn’t matter. I like this!! And I love Discobelle.net!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Martin, to be honest, I did just listen to the mix, all the way the bitter. It’s competent, but really nothing special. So one has to wonder why it finds a place in a series of usually excellent and interesting mixes. Are you telling me that you will post anything that anyone sends to you regardless of quality, because I seriously doubt that. Perhaps it has something to do with the nepotistic nature of a certain messageboard you belong to, I don’t know.
I’m not going to criticize the original tracks in too much detail, but a comparison to Madonna seems more than a little far fetched. The “Two of Hearts” cover (Stacey Q) isn’t terrible, but beyond that it’s a little worse than ‘meh.’ This is strictly amateur hour.
It was clear in your post that the bio was provided, no one is calling you out on that. And please, the bio is “tongue in cheek?” Show me the humour.

Wynken: Maybe the mix is not all that but I like it and the feel of it, it could just be nostalgia. And putting those quotes in seemed, to me at least, to be made with some sort of humour.

I think the mix is good hearing it once today. A nice change if you ask me. If its not your cup of tea…..then cool, eveyone has a right to thier opinion. For starters, the songs are mixed and arranged cool, I’ve heard mixes on this site that had some serious train wreckage and no one said shit. And to Wynke, it sounds to me like if the music content on the mix is not *certified cool* on the holler board than it ain’t good. Don’t dick ride Purple Crush later down the line when do a track with your favorite producer.
back to the lean!

Please, a girl pushing thirty with a flat voice does not a popstar make. I can promise you that I will never be “dickriding” (now THAT is funny if you think about it) Purple Crush regardless of who she works with.
As for “not Hollerboard approved?” Dude, I’m pretty sure the only reason that the mix is up here is because Purple Crush is part of that community – as is Martin.
As for the mixing, you’re right, it’s competant. But this is basically just a promo grab from people who aren’t even dj’s. Hence the fact that almost half the mixtape is their own stuff.
