For not releasing an album this year, we’ve heard a lot from Amerie in 2006. Fine by me, I’ve been liking pretty much anything coming from her since “1 Thing”. R&B far more interesting than the J-Lo-esque stuff that comes by the dozen.

This is a track that we picked up in September and I’ve been playing it regularly since then. And if the album is anything like the mixtape she released, she’s bound to be on the 2007 list as well.

I have to admit one thing first. I don’t really like Peter, Bjorn and John but this tune makes me forget that. Every song on the 12″ makes me want to dance and this remix makes me want to get drunk and thats a good thing.

DJ Craig, Montreal’s premier Baltimore Club DJ, just did a 30 minute mix filled with b-more classics as well as all the new hits for the radio show Masala on CISM in Montreal. The radio show focuses on music from all over the world like baile funk, baltimore club, kuduro, soca, dancehall etc. You should head on over there and check out their podcasts. (Props to Guillaume)

We so eagerly awaited the return of The King aka Jigga aka Shawn Carter and when the album dropped it was sort of lukewarm. On the other hand when this collabo track between the two NYC greats Nas and Jigga leaked, they showed us all what it’s really supposed to be like. This is hot, from the opening line “I know you can feel the magic, baby” accompanied by those strings, that marching beat and the cheering crowd way in the background, you just know that this is gonna be a stand out track. Both of them spit some sick lines and to connect back to the opening line, we sure can feel the magic.

We slept on the original when it dropped, we still don’t know how we missed that incredible hook but that’s our bad.

Here’s the remix of the banging Rich Boy and Polow da Don track “Throw some D’s” with The Game, it’s ripped from a radio show with DJ Skee but you get the idea. According to The Fader there’s apparently a version floating around that besides The Game also features Jim Jones and Andre 3000. (Thanks to Amir over at The Soul Lounge)
