man ya’ll iz haterz. bomb ass beat; you can’t get this anywhere else. plus Uffie’s rap is in the new genre “dumb rap.” there is no essence to the skill or quality of rapping; it’s more for fun/dance than a great exposition of rap skills. all southern crunk rap in that sense is “the wort rapping ever” but the rapping is eazy, or “dumb.” it’s for the listener to rock out to; it’s not a platform of rap judgement.

if you don’t think little Jon can’t be put in a ‘dumb rap’ category, well maybe you haven’t listened to lil jon. it is STRICTLY and exclusively the beat that makes or breaks the song; the lyrics are always secondary. the case for Cormega, or Nas, or mobb deep in the 90s is the opposite - simple repetive beat but very lyrical and original thoughts. people that listen to crunk are on pills, high on bud, and very drunk. the song’s lyrics immitate the atmosphere it wants to create. with crunk, fights break out in clubs all the time . . . these songs simply complement innebriation, and the same can be said about Uffie. “ready to fuck?” there is no value to that, but it is fun dancing to it. anyone trying to speculate whether uffie’s lyrics are great or bad obviously misses the point, the fun in the song. also, why do people concern themselves with, or find interest in the character to an act like Uffie, a girl that plays no essential role to their lives? resign your commentary to the ‘music’ and not the demeanor of the artist. of course she’s young and maybe immature; if you stress this over the music, then you cleary underestimate the tact of oizo and ed banger — they know exactly what they’re doing.

First off: prejudice = racism.
The fact alone that this term is used primarily by white people (something we cannot truly be certain of, but seems likely and therefore adds creedence to my claim) implies it’s racist intent. This has nothing to do with racism towards white people.
Let’s start by breaking down the word: white + nigger. Well, we’re off to a great start and I shpuldn’t really have to go any further. Colloquially the word means a white person who acts like a black person. The logical progression here should be obvious, but perhaps I should continue.
The problematic core of the term’s colloquial use clearly comes from its implication that white people are, as you put it, “acting black.” What does “acting black” mean in this circumstance? I think you can see where I’m going.

Racism is a whole set of behaviors, practices, attitudes and policies that systematically work to subjugate one set of people to the benefit of another. See my second to last post for just a few examples of what that means in real life - not some bullsh-t namecalling back and forth on a f-cking blog comment section! What you’re talking about here is prejudice. Well, I think you’ve developed a singularly personal definition of racism that requires action. But at the same time not really…I think the use the word “wigger” would fall under under the attitudes part of the definition you posted.
Seriously, prejudice/discrimination is part of the dictionary definition of racism. Look it up.
You might someday realize that it is the smaller, or unseen actions (especially those that are personally unnoticed/unintentional) that contribute to the obviously greater problem of systemic racism.
Of course the more extreme examples of racism that you brought up are much, much worse, nothing I wrote was denying that. Nor was I equating anything. Is it so difficult for you to imagine that there might varying degrees of racism?

From everything you’ve said, your definition of racism seems to be: Actions motivated by predjudice. This is only ONE form of racism, and like I said before - is worse than predjudice itself. But this doesn’t change the fact that predjudice itself, whether conscious or unconscious, IS STILL RACISM.
This argument began over whether or not the word “wigger” was racist. You’re trying to change what we’re talking about. I never tried to tell you how to feel about the word, just tried to show how the word was racist.

Your grasp of language and logic are totally backwards here. Just stop and re-read what you’re saying:
All racism = prejudice, since “prejudicial behavior” is an underlying component of racism. However, not all forms of prejudice are racist. If someone hates fat people, it could be said that he or she is prejudiced against fat people. They would not, however, be RACIST against fat people.
This should be an obvious point.
As for this debate over the term “wigger” - I can’t tell who is saying what here so the following is addressed to both Ian and Papat:
Is the origin of the phrase “wigger” racist? I would say, yes, given the reasons noted: that it is a contraction of “white + “ni****”. However, “wigger” is not, in fact, racist against white people: it’s racist against BLACK PEOPLE. It is the equivalent of calling a white person, a “ni**** lover.” The point of using such a phrase is to castigate white people for seeking cordial/civil relationships with black people. The offense being committed - in the minds of racists - is daring to love those who they hate. Therefore, the very root of “wigger” as a pejorative is anti-Black racism. It may be used against white people but it is not, in fact, anti-White. It is not attacking Whiteness. It is not attacking people for being White. You make some good points but let me kind of restate why I jumped into this conversation in the first place using the way you broke it down as my framework.
Apparently the Hollertronix messageboard is populated by “wiggers” as described by a dude named mifi above. Now by “wigger” he doesn’t mean kids “seeking cordial/civil relationships with black people” but white kids who slavishly copy what they believe to be black modes of style, speech and behavior. Many so-called wiggers have no interest in meeting any actual real black people which is why they get derided by people like mifi and black folks alike but that’s a whole ‘nother conversation.
Now I don’t know if this is really the case as far as the Hollertronix board goes, I didn’t go there to verify, but whether it is or not is pretty much irrelevant to my point. Papat, and I think a couple other folks, attacked Mifi as being a “racist” so I jumped in to question their use of that term in the context of this coversation.
Using ODub’s analogy, they were essentially accusing mifi of amputating cats when he was inflciting paper cuts at best in my view. I’ll concede the point that yes, the word “wigger” is essentially racist but casual accusations of racism and use of the word racist essentially dilute the impact of those words and belittle the experiences of people, like myself, who’ve experienced real racism.
Also, Papat yet again you jumped out the window and said something out of order with the line “You really need to calm down and stop being reactionary about this” right here but I’m taking your follow up response as being an apology/retraction so I’ll let it slide. Overall I am still puzzled by why you’re so hung up on establishing that use of the term “wigger” is racist, but if me conceding that will maybe help you move on and allow him to consider some weightier race-related issues, so be it.
