Mixin’ it up: Dre Skull

This weeks Mixin’ it up is from our boy Dre Skull. He took some time off from working on his followup 12″ with Juiceboxxx to make this mix for you all.

“This is a somewhat varied collection of music I enjoy. Though it wasn’t a guiding idea when I started this mix, I can hear a unifying theme of restrained simplicity in many of these tracks. As a producer, I find this compelling as it is a quality I strive for in my own work. If anyone’s lookin for tracks holla atcha boy!!!

Fallout – The Morning After (Sunrise Mix)
Tomorrow today. Brooklyn sunrise house.

Farley Jackmaster Funk – Bass Lives On
Classic Chicago, killer keys.

Hithouse – Move Your Feet to the Rhythm of the Beat
Playful and banging.

Bizarre Inc. – Such A Feeling
Uplifting vamps.

Juiceboxxx and Dre Skull – Sweat
Off the 12″.

Jungle Brothers – I’ll House You
(Hip) house is a feeling and the JB’s feel it. Also, the panning
work on the cowbell.

Dynamix II – Mind Control
Proto-Big Beat from Miami.

Lil Louise – The Original Video Clash
Disputed authorship. Undisputed elegantly simple dance floor fire.

Thomas Bangalter – Turbo
Unrelenting head banger house.

Fancy (Busy P Remix)
Keeping it banging. Abstract and wild.

Dre Skull – This Is Why I’m Hot (Unreleased Dre Skull vs Mims)
Drum n synth. Might see a different form.

Dukey Man & DJ Technics – Move!
Drum funk.

Shut Up & Dance – Lamborgini ft Ragga Twins
Vintage Londontown stomp.

Mighty Dub Katz – Only When I’m Dancing Do I Feel This Disco
Classy meets trashy.

Olive – You’re Not Alone
“Open your mind.”

Get Money Girls & Danny D – Show Me The $$$
Miami thump. “I don’t cook good.”

Dre Skull – Unreleased
???coming soon???

Dre Skull – Unreleased
Cut ups from the archives.

Synthesizer
ZZ Pot mixtapes are the shit.

Dre Skull – Make It Rain
Recent unfinished business.

Positronix – Shake It
Detroit electro on some Miami meets London.

DJ Shortstop – The Trip
Noise.

The 8-Bit Construction Set – Dollars
Seminal electronic heavy metal.

DJ Nasty – Pass Out
Nasty bass. Old favorite.

? – Disco Guitar
Fine disco guitar work.

Waxmaster – Get the Fuck Up
Parallel dimension reggaeton from Chicago.

Jammin Gerald – Biggie Trax
Hyperactive club music.

Feenix Fenom – Juke Box
FF’s manager told me she might be changing her name or at least the
spelling. Phoenix Phenom? Feenix Ivy?

DJ Nehpets – We Fly High Juked
Shouts to Nehpets for this track! Fadeaway juke at it’s finest.

504 Boyz – I Can Tell
With all due respect, the guitars and the melody. There is NO LIMIT!!!”

[...] Dre Skull & Juiceboxx kicked up a storm with their club anthem “Sweat” in the beginning of 2007 and then a few months later Dre Skull came through with a mix for Discobelle. Now, we recieved an e-mail a few days ago with this new Dre Skull track where he reworks that old Jackson 5 hit “I Want You Back” into a modern bastardized dancefloor monster. [...]
