I liked the fact that you posted links to mixes that other blog readers made. I always scroll through their playlists and if I like what I see, I download them. That way I also discoverd some new tunes that I now love and it is always interesting to hear what techniques they used on the transitions between tracks.
On the other hand I can understand that, if the Discobelle mailbox is getting spammed with thousands of mails, you want to cut the mix postings down.

I think the same way as Thibaud does, it’s understandable why you have to do it.
It’s kinda funny tough this came up about 10 minuits after I mailed you guys my discobelle-mix. :) :(

You don’t think that to many mixes on the site makes the mixes we publish less worth? As it is now we can not listen to them all and if we countinue to post mixes in “we got mail” we can not say if they are top notch. We think that there is a risk that that will get the really good mixes to be missed by all the mixes posted.

Good call, chainsnatcha. I barely read the tracklistings. Now with everyone making mixes the only real talk is mixes with exclusives or thought to them. I kindal like the podcastlike stuff or live mixes with lots of randomness, fuck ups preferrably with a mic to the crowd. Obviously your own favourites are good to go (scottie b sends discobelle a mix, discobelle will post it, simple). I’m just thinkin maybe tehre’s a different forum for mixes. Obivously people put a lot of time into theirs so I don’t mean to be like all nasty and shit. It’s just I’m feelin a lot of the single song downloads a lot better. I think it reflects in the number of unique hits as well.
I could go on about this but I believe the copyright thingy in sweden goes easier on songs included in mixes.

I’m with ski, there are enough mix websites out there. Use blentwell or themixingbowl or someother one. There has been too many hit and mis mixes lately. The ones Discobelle push are usually top notch and you don’t want to be know for promoting some douche’s mix. Stick with the tunes and remixes.

I’ve always been a fan of the random mixes. Although it’s understandable that you don’t have enough time to listen to them, for the most part, the ones that made it through were great.

think this is good – some editorial perspective is not a bad thing.

i think you should do a Mixmagesque / Essential Mix thing.
you pick the artists to do the mixes, cos everyone knows you have great taste.

yeah — i like the idea of Discobelle Essential Mix type of things.
If you knock out the random submission mixes, I hope you kick down a few more primo DJ sets. I love ‘em and they keep us on our toes.

I think if you have a good mix you should post it, along with the track selection as a comment to the we got mail post every week, this way everyones mixes have a home and we know where to look for them.

well i havent heard really that many mixes that absolutely sucked on here, maybe one that i wont say who becuase she got dissed really hard already, but to be honest i dont even have enought time of my own to get thru half of the mixes i download here… so i can def imagine you dont want to spend all day long being the siskel and eberts of dj mixes.
also, these damn bloggers are so quick to be like OHH DISCOBELLE YOU JUST POST ANYTHING THESE DAYS WAAHHHH just because something is not flawless (re: ableton), so yea do what you gots to do!
more contests would make shit fun!

i agree its better to pick out like the best mix of the week and publish, that you actually have time and patienceto listen through than one mix a day.
