Yawwwwwnnnnnnn.
Even the Neptunes remix of the original is fresher than this.
“new ideas in hiphop” > Swizz sampled Daft Punk for “Touch It” and actually made a banger.

at least this one doesn’t make you cringe. the daft punk clip is just wack. they also cop Thom York and that’s just wrong

sampling 20 year old records from obscure artists only a few people know about is no longer controverse.
sampling music with months regarding thom yorke and peter bjorn and john), or sampling music from favourite references of half the globe (daft punk), that is controverse.
i applaud kanye.

Can he sample without permission from these artist? If not, I am surprised that they let him sample them, maybe it just breaks down to dollars and cents?

This is by far one of the best songs I have heard in a while. Who cares if it isn’t original, it has daft punk and next time my ipod dies maybe i’ll be lucky enough to hear something daft punk on the radio.

Let’s be honest, people will hate cause of Touch it, plain and simple. Have nothing against the guy but the sample feels weak, not reworked in any way shape or form.

hahah this song is weak. i like kanye’s past work, but this and the mixtape are getting so much undeserved hype. i think it’s because this year has been fairly weak for hip-hop.

LAndon says:
June 3, 2007 at 22:01
This song isn’t wack because he ‘jacks’ Daft Punk its wack because the beat is just a loop and it sounds only boring. The synths are not that good either. Whatever, itll probably be a hit. My question is what is a radio rip? Digital radio or over-the-air? How do people record it?
Posone says:
June 4, 2007 at 00:22
Nope. Kanye is overrated, period. He hardly was going for the obscure sample crowd when he ripped Curtis was he? He cried like a baby at the MTV Eurpoe VMA’s and made a fool out of himself and again embarrassed the hip hop genre when everyone was claiming he was the saviour. There are saviours out there. He just wants to make some quick $$$$. He’s a pop star/pop act. God only knows why A-Trak agreed to be his DJ. Oh, hang on… I’ve got it. $$$$!!!!

Guys from Belgium, The Dirty Jos Soundsystem, are specialised in “Live Mashing”, they mash songs live, using 2 records, 2 cd’s, or a record and a cd. They mashed up Kanye’s track with Daft Punk’s original a few days ago. I have a set-rip of this piece:

Hope you like it, and if you don’t, that’s also okay :).

^ Agree. Swizzy might have done it first but Kanye’s made a great pop record using a vaguely cool left-of-center sample which is what Daft Punk is for 95% of the people who are gonna hear this record for the first time on mainstream radio and MTV. Most of them are not necessarily gonna know this source material at all.
