SebastiAn is back

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

SebastiAn returns after some time with the new track “Untitled”, that’s supposedly off his upcoming album on Ed Banger. It starts off kind of smooth with a slow steady beat and handclaps, then a nasty guitar line kicks in and you get more of that familiar dark electro sound that SebastiAn is known for.

Some of our friends (among others Moulinex, Zntn and Xinobi who have all been featured on Discobelle in the past) down in Portugal came together and did a mix to support the burgeoning electro/dance scene down there. They’re called Guerrilha Club and consists of a loose collective of dj’s, producers, vj’s etc. Here’s the banging mix:

Last Bangers & Cash

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

The last track from the forthcoming Bangers & Cash CD done by Spank Rock and Benny Blanco dropped yesterday. “Bitch” continues in the same vein as the other tracks (which can be found here, here and here). The beat on this is sweet and Naeem keeps spitting them dirty lyrics.

Mixin’ It Up: T-Wrecks

Friday, September 28th, 2007

null

T-Wrecks is a member of one of our favorite dj-crews, namely Stylusts (along with Drastik, DJ Illo and Kid SL. They just started their own blog which is located here) out of Canada. They’ve been killing it as individual contenders in the DMC contests and were the 2006 Canadian DMC Team Champions. T-Wrecks hails from Toronto/Ottawa and has been crunking out some sweet tracks lately, among them the recent Timbaland “Way I Are” remix and the much appreciated B-more version of “Get It Shawty”. We’re very glad he wanted to do a mix for us here at Discobelle and here it is for your enjoyment.

TRACKLIST:

“What Up World! Listen and enjoy…”

01 - Twista - Well It’s Time

“Well It’s Time To Begin”! The lyrics and feel of this song were perfect to start off the mix. It’s a bonus track from Twista’s new album produced by Kanye West, and it samples Feist.

02 - Paul McCartney feat. Michael Jackson - Say Say Say (12inch mix)

I had to throw on a funky 80s joint. Timeless feel good music from the classic duo.

03 - Justice - D.A.N.C.E (DJ Eli & Diplo Remix)

My favorite version/remix of D.A.N.C.E. - I played some David Bowie “Lets Dance” cuts/drops at the start to add some flavor. I cut up some b-more drums over the breakdown at the end while mixing in the next track (adds that turntablist feel to it).

04 - Kid Sister / Justin Timberlake - Damn Girl

I like playing around with songs that have similar track names or lyrics. This is the battle of the “Damn Girl”.

05 - Lil Mama - Lip Gloss (Kid Fresh ReFix)

Kid Fresh and Haterboy murder this one! I’ve been playin’ this one out for a while now. Big up to the Lordz of Fitness!

06 - Slum Village - EZ Up (T-Wrecks Remix)

The synths in the original ‘EZ Up’ were so dope that I had to do a remix. Detroit hip-hop will never die. R.I.P J-DILLA!

07 - Sinden vs Tag Team - Whoomp There It Is (DJ Illo’s 2007 TouchUp)

Another Stylusts production! Illo refreshes “Whoomp There It Is” for 2007.

08 - 50 Cent ft. Justin Timberlake - She Wants It (Edwin Van Cleef Remix)

Ayo Technology remix that just BANGS!!!

09 - Chromeo - Tenderoni (MSTRKRFT Remix)

Chromeo & MSTRKRFT! Two Canadian duos that are representin’ world wide.

10 - T-Wrecks - Oh Sheila Remix

I freaked it just enough that it still has the flavor of the original track and it bangs louder.

11 - Afrika Bambaataa - Get Up and Dance (Stylusts Remix)

We made this remix recently, so it’s not fully mastered yet. I just had to squeeze this track into the mix and let the people get a sneak peak of what the Stylusts are up to. We have a lot of interesting remixes coming so hold tight!

12 - DJ Neoteric - Stardust vs Nirvana

DJ Drastik put me onto this one. This blend works really well on the dance floor. Big up to Neoteric for holding down Canada’s West Coast.

13 - Stylusts - Playboy Ya Time’s Up!

DJ Drastik and I thought of remixing Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction” because we liked the hard synths in it. The original track seems cheesy to me. It reminds me of Canadian strip clubs and Stephen Hawking. We decided to give the track more ass by adding dirty drums and different vocals. This remix works on the dance floor every time. We’re currently on a mission of remixing cheesy dance/rave songs and giving them some filth and swagger.

14 - Rustie - Preech Master

This beat just seemed to fit perfectly for a transition into the next song. Thanks to Rustie for sending me this one!

15 - Techtwelve & Mike Tull - T-Dot Slang

My boy Techtwelve and Mike Tull made this remix of Kardinal Offishall’s “Bakardi Slang”. The original track is a Toronto anthem - I had to represent somehow. Look out for those Techtwelve remixes!

16 - M.I.A - Bucky Done Gone (Risk One B’fix)

Risk One lets this one thump hard.

17 - T-Wrecks - Way I Are Remix

I made this when the track first came out but I didn’t leak it until recently. Google this one and download it!

18 - Soulja Boy - Crank Dat (Pop Rawkus Remix)

There are many remixes of this track but I chose the Pop Rawkus one because it bangs and it fit nicely into the mix. The Cousin Cole - ‘Crank Dat’ remix is real nice too.

19 - 50 Cent - I Get Money (ESTAW Gets Cash Fix)

I Get Money is a big track whether you like 50 Cent or not. ESTAW did up a crazy remix!

20 - Kanye West - Stronger (A-Trak Remix)

50 Cent vs Kanye West, the battle continues! I had to put these two tracks back to back. A-Trak destroys it with this one. Another extremely talented and influential DJ from Canada.

21 - Biggie - Everyday Struggle (Bird Peterson Remix)

Bird Peterson always brings the heat! This track is coming out on vinyl this fall. Be on the look out.

22 - Goldrocc - 93′Til Bmore (Instrumental) / Suzanne Vega - Tom’s Diner

This blend is an outro for the mix. I wanted to go out on a mellow tip and make it a ‘To Be Continued’ type ending.

Thanks to the Discobelle fam!”

Rick Ross and Clipse!

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Our favorite hip hop artists together on a track! Rick Ross and Clipse do a joint that’s, of course, filled to the brink with references to drugs and hustlin’ on the streets over a smooth and soulful beat. This track is on the upcoming Rick Ross album “Trilla” that should drop in November.

Twista + Kanyeezy + Feist

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

This leaked a couple of days ago but we slept a little on it.

Anyway, we’re big fans of Feist here at Discobelle and we think it’s kinda cool that Kanye & Twista decided to sample her track “Gatekeeper”. The track - “Well It’s Time” - is a bonus track lifted off the new Twista album “Adrenaline Rush 2007″. It features Twista rapping fast as usual, unfortunately it sort of clashes a bit with the sweet voice of Feist but it’s still good.

Dave Nada - Fat Bottom Girl (exclusive)

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

null

Our man Tittsworth is a solid provider of all things banging. He just gave us the excellent B-more track “Fat Bottom Girl” which is done by DC producer/dj Dave Nada and it’s taken from his newly released “Kick Out The Jams EP”. Here, Mr Nada uses both Queen and the Ying Yang Twins to create a track that’s a far cry from your run of the mill B-more remix and it will most certainly destroy on the dancefloor.
