Justice + Pase Rock

We haven’t written about Justice in a while but this was posted up on Pitchfork (they’ve been killing it lately) the other day. And since we love pretty much all things Justice and this track in particular it’s going up here also.
Dim Mak boss Steve Aoki has a mixcd entitled “Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles” coming out soonish and here he uses “Waters Of Nazareth” (to top it off he uses the mighty Erol Alkan Durr Durr Durrrr edit) which is one of the great electro bangers of recent (we still go mental everytime we hear it in the club) and mixes in a verse from our friend Pase Rock. Pasey Pase spits a few bars about - among other things - money, sex, drugs, laffy taffy, Lost and Lindsay Lohan. Too bad the tracks ends almost before it started.

you didn’t up the steve aoki remix. you upped erol’s durr durrrrr mix.
September 20th, 2007 at 19:02
my bad. didn’t realize there were some vocals at the end. pretty shitty on aoki’s part. amazing song and remix otherwise.
September 20th, 2007 at 19:36
Lame. How exactly did Steve Aoki go about remixing this track? Did he just put Pase Rocks vocals over Erol Alkans remix? Terrible.
September 20th, 2007 at 20:09
It’s just a track from a mix cd I doubt he’s going to try and get any remix credit from it.
The clues are all there in the post people!
September 20th, 2007 at 21:54
anything steve aoki is a fuckin joke. not just this song. Shame on you DB. still luv the blog tho!
September 20th, 2007 at 23:40
you gotta check out one of the features in this weeks LA Weekly. Theres a pretty good article about the rise of justice, steve aoki, MIA, and the Klaxons - a so-called resurgence of disco (dancing) music
September 21st, 2007 at 00:30
not to hate, but i don’t think aoki has any part production-wise in the “resurgence” of disco/electro fad. he has the name and cinespace and LAX sundays. thhaz about it
September 21st, 2007 at 00:36
this song is poor on aoki’s part.
but either way he is still a lord!
September 21st, 2007 at 01:33
terrible track.
sounds like pase’s vocals were recorded on garage band over a telephone and that there was no effort in inserting them in the track to make them sound good or even work. and the ‘mix’ into the next song isn’t anything more than a simple fade.
another perfect example of aoki appropriating and exploiting his friend’s and colleage’s fame and talent to suit his own needs while not doing them any justice (pun intended).

September 21st, 2007 at 08:34
to DJ spoony:
you know, at the end of the day, I’d love to see Steve do something (anything) amazing, but this isn’t it.
he needs to spend more time focusing on making a good product then trying to be cool.
and yes, DREAMBURGER are fucking rad.

dear discobelle:
stop spreading the misinformation of music by labeling this a “steve aoki remix” when in fact it is not.
this is why people shit on your blog. music blogs serve to give information and new music to the public at hand. and you guys seem to always mislabel shit out of either a. ignorance or b. because you just don’t give a fuck. it would serve you better to come CORRECT in your posts and have a gold standard when it comes to your blog…
sincerely,
naw naw son you got it all wrong.
September 21st, 2007 at 14:23
Naw Naw: Yay, thanks for the criticism. We’ll try harder to not do mistakes…
September 21st, 2007 at 15:04
thanks sim fitty for the heat -that bloodbath track is sick - and naw naw son, what is the name of your blog anyway - blogs are about progress not perfection. I want to hear new music, I come here. I want to hear whining that not everything in the world or on Discobelle is perfect, I go to naw naw son’s house and sit with him and his momma on the couch and wring my hands about the sad state of the world where misinformation exists and mistakes happen.

and yes, DREAMBURGER is fucking horrid
September 21st, 2007 at 19:37
its not about things being perfect. its about dumbass kids running around saying “hey did you hear the steve aoki remix of justice with pase rock” when steve didnt do anything but ask pase rock to rap over a justice instrumental (technically erol alkan’s re-edit) it helps discobelle to post something properly labeled so the proper people get the proper credit. it also fuels any hate that someone like steve aoki may or may not unjustly deserve. after all Steve never asked for credit from this, he’s just putting out a mixtape via a large record company. get your paper steve fuck the haters.
September 21st, 2007 at 20:21
That’s the unfuckwitable “We Are Rockstars” by Does It Offend You, Yeah? at the end.
September 22nd, 2007 at 00:44
I know my own cool and an old karate sensei looking twice his age, ain’t that cool. I’m sorry Justice had gain the money (if he did) off this garbage. I think people need to stand up againest crap like this!

I listened to Dreem Team on Radio One once upon a time.
Dreamburger are probably not to everyone’s taste, but are far from “fucking horrid.”
September 23rd, 2007 at 05:36
Anyways, still thinking that Justice is the shit is very retarded.
September 24th, 2007 at 13:40
justice is still the shit…what, they can’t be the shit anymore just cuz they’re on mtv every 5 minutes?
October 7th, 2007 at 21:27
Red Foxxx did an edit of Nazareth like a year ago.
And all this shit talking is hilarious.
