Don Rimini, Xmas gift (exclusive)

Ah yes, our favorite Parisian producer/dj – Don Rimini – returns with yet another exclusive mix for Discobelle + he also throws in the Crookers remix of his massive track “Let Me Back Up”. Don’t forget to check out his “Absolutely Rad” EP when it drops in january on Mental Groove Records.

Don Rimini – Let Me Back Up (Crookers Tetsujin remix) (zShare)

Don Rimini – Discobelle mix three (direct link)

TRACKLIST:

DJ Zinc – Super Sharp Shooter (Ron Rimini edit)

To me, this is the perfect intro. Featuring Method Man. Big time…

Pase Rock – So Fucking Disco

Damned! I’m very fond of Pase Rock. « Lindsay Lohan » hasn’t left my DJ bag for months. It’s like Hip Hop turning into Disco. The tremolo bass on it is a wicked idea.

Felix Cartal – Vancouver

I was familiar with Felix’s very punchy tracks, but « Vancouver » is the icing on the cake. Worthy of Switch or Crookers…

Don Rimini – Sumo & Geishas

A nice heavy sumo sound is all it takes to lure all the geishas onto the dancefloor ! Beware of the trumpets’ sample after the first break; it’s a mean one…

Arthur Agent – Hold Your Head Up (Soulwax remix)

A less well-known remix, but a very fine one. I’ve used the same computer vocals on one of my tracks! Soulwax adds up a great dose of genius to it.

Thomas Schumacher – Kickschool 79

Saturated bass, little snare drum breaks : this track sounds like Boys Noize, but it was produced in 2005.

The Shoes – America (Brodinski Remix)

The original is a must. But this version from Louis aka Brodi, is hot !! – with its phaser on synth gimmick at the beginning, and its massive kick! “americaaaaaaaa”

Assembly Now – Graphs, Maps & Trees (Maximilian Remix)

It’s taken me some time before I managed to play this wicked track in my sets, because it’s quite short. But, the hell with it : enjoy it!!

Don Rimini – Let Me Back Up (The Driver aka Manu Le Malin feat. Lunatic Asylum Remix)

My secret dream was to have someone make a violent, a brutal remix of Let Me Back Up. Well, these two hardcore godfathers have honoured me by doing it. And I thank them for it. Respect. They’re legends.

Black Daniel – Gimme What You Got (Streetlab vs. Gbh Remix)

A shuffle style beat, glitch-like breaks, saturated guitar: This is a track for stadiums!

Bloody Beetroots – Public Enemy

Tommie & Bob to the top !!! These Italians are crazy, and so are their remixes. The one from Timbaland is awesome, but this is my favourite one…

Das Pop – Fool For Love (Yuksek Remix)

I like a lot Yuksek’s stuff. And I love the structure of this track: pop, with verse and chorus. The use of filters is highly strategic, and it works out wonderfuly. Yuksek’s gonna rock 2008!!

Mark Ronson feat Amy Winehouse – Valerie (Sinden & Count Of Monte Crital Remix)

Yo, back to the crunk house. Soooo cool! Synth that makes you bounce. Break by Amy and her cavalry of violins. Topped with a pumpin’ rythm. There you go.

Don Rimini – Let Me Back Up

I definitely love this track. It’s been played around for a year whithout being released. Kids use it as ringtones. They know its breaks by heart. It will be released on January, on Mental Groove: check it out!

Don Rimini – Let Me Back Up (Crookers Tetsujin Mix)

These guys are unbelievable. Their tracks kick ass! Grazie mille to the remix brothers! This is the track you’re gonna hear the most in 2008, ha ha ha!!

Das Glow – Weiss Gaz

Very efficient track. It plays with your nerves! It sort of reminds me of Armand Van Helden’s « Necessary Evil ».

Public Energy – Three o Three

This brings back a lot of memories. Back to rave!! An acid loop, a military beat, a TB 303, and a gimmick that sticks to your brain – clench your teeth! Aciiiiiiiiiid!

The Teenagers – Starlett Johannson (Blamma ! Blamma ! Remix)

My favourite track of the moment. It’s got all it takes to make people go twisted: Tested and Approved!

Party Shank – Penis vs Vagina (Lies In Disguise Remix)

I admit it, the strength of this tracks lies in its title…

Thomas Schumacher – Who’s Your Daddy?

I was rummaging through my hard disk, when I ran into this little treasure. This track is old, but it’s totally got today’s feeling. Listen to its « bitch, hu ! ha ! » samples. Coming straight from a DJ Rectangle vinyl.

Tactic – Beats Bork

I had to play a Baltimore-style track in this mix. The voices sound like booty ; the hi hat is of the purest b-more tradition.
