Xmas 2007, 19: Chromeo – Fancy Footwork (Strip Steve remix)

We had to have a Chromeo track on the list, and there was a ton of stuff to choose from. So, we decided to give you some more of that french flavour that you all long for. Strip Steve from Bordeaux made our jaws drop when he handed us this. He remixes the track “Fancy Footwork” from the canadian discofunksters into some excellent 90´s era french house banger. Trust us, you’ll definetely hear alot more from this youngster in 2008.

New Lily Allen

Björn would have posted this but he’s somewhere in a swedish winter resort doing god knows what. Anyway, seems like Lily Allen is back with a new track. Well, actually it’s a cover of the Electric Light Orchestra track “Mister Blue Sky” from way back in 1977. This is a nice and bouncy little ditty and we hope she’s overcome her various problems. (Thanks to Panda Toes)

Fabric party

Fabric doesn’t sleep even though the holidays are closing in. They’re putting on a sweet looking party this friday, so get your egg nog fix and dance away the night. To give you all something to look forward to, here’s mix from dj-duo Filthy Dukes.

PS. For those of you that unfortunately can’t make it to London, there’s Radioclit at Vega in Copenhagen or Lo-Fi-Fnk with our friends from Risky Bizniz at Debaser Medis in Stockholm.

Hold On To Me, Baby!

Sincerely Yours have been killing it over here in Sweden. Another track turned up today, Air France with “Hold On To Me, Baby”. We hear what sounds like someone walking in the snow during the beginning of this track, then the panpipe sets in and we’re drawn into the world of Air France. Here’s what SY wrote about it:

“We shipped Air France away out in the middle of nowhere with a case of glühwine, some libyan weed and a plan to record three songs. Two weeks later, Joel came back, quite upset. Honest paranoia and delusions of grandure, who knows, but something happened out there. Well, at least something good came out of this drunken mess. It’s called Hold on to me, baby. Merry fucking x-mas. The royal family is back in town.”

Jamaican-Gangster-Mix-Cover.jpg

Jamaican Gangster Mixtape (updated)

This is brilliant! DJ Perry Levy of the Most High Sound made a mixtape where he mixed up Jay-Z from American Gangster with some of the biggest dancehall riddims (when you got this, The DJ Skee tape and Benzi’s tape you are good to go). I really needed some Jamaican flavor so this came at the right time.

Updated (full remix album (not the mixtape) at 320kbps and artwork)

Xmas 2007, 18: DJ Khaled – We Taking Over

Biggest rap track of the year + a remix from Techtwelve (another one of those talented canadians), nuff said!

Thom Yorke – Burial

We can’t seem to get enough of Burial. His album “Untrue” along with various remixes has been the soundtrack for my bike rides to and from work for the last couple of weeks. Thom Yorke has selected a few choice artists to remix tracks from his “The Eraser” album. We’ve already featured the remix by XXXChange (too bad that it won’t be released officially) and now the Burial remix of “And It Rained All Night” emerged. Like a continuation of “Untrue”, this evokes images of desolate urban landscapes.

Justice – The Fader mix

The Justice boys dj’ed at the release party for the 50th issue of the always excellent magazine The Fader. Sounds like we missed out on one hell of a party…

Xmas 2007, 17: Maskinen – Alla Som Inte Dansar

This is probably the best Swedish dance track of the year and the beat is up there as one of the best beats of the year. We have featured it a couple of times here on the blog, so there is not much more to say. Alla som inte dansar är våldtäktsmän!
