We tried to persuade him to send us some of his new songs from the EP “Down Widdit” but he is keeping them for his release (support him and buy them. This is good stuff!). The Glass remix CD + competition

The NYC electro/dance/rocksters and all around great guys in The Glass are releasing their “Remixes and Rarities” CD yesterday. The CD is filled to the brim with sweet remixes, both some of their own and also remixes made by Mylo, Rinocerose, Supertroels etc. We thought it would be fun to promote it and collaborate on a little competition. Here’s the deal: we give you the 320 kbps instrumental for the track “Bangin’ It Out”, here’s what Dominique had to say about the track itself: “It’s got a little hip hop and indie vibe, so it would be cool if we got some raps as well as more song stuff, or whatever someone wants to express over the track really…”

The winner gets released on Plant Music!

So download the track, get cracking and send the result here!

BONUS: The Eli Escobar remix of the track “Fourteen Again”.

China Is Growing Up So Fast Now!

DJ Wordy – 3 times China DMC champion – sent us his new mix.

“People here don’t really know about discobelle yet, because most of the djs here are just into straight commercial hip hop or house/techno, but i am trying to open up the scene here a little more and letting people know about the new shit like you guys are doing.”

If you’re in Bejing in a near future be sure to check out the party Hotpot!

Ocelot – No Love Lost Records mixtape

In conjunction with No Love Lost Records, we proudly present the latest edition of their Mixtape Project. This – the 20th edition – was done by the smashing production/dj duo known as Ocelot. Here’s a bit more info on the Ocelot boys and the mix itself:

“Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis), also known as the Painted Leopard, McKenney’s Wildcat or Manigordo, is a wild cat distributed over South and Central America and Mexico, but has been reported as far north as Texas and in Trinidad, in the Caribbean. The Ocelot’s appearance is similar to that of the domestic cat (but with the fur of a Jaguar). OCELOT also happens to be one of the most talented and in-demand, DJ and production duos in the world today. Coming straight off their very well received and much talked about “Ocelot Remix” of Swedish pop sensation, ROBYN’s current hit single, “Be Mine”, this U.S./U.K. based duo have seen fit to grace the No Love Lost Records Mixtape Project with its twentieth exclusive mix. The mix OCELOT have crafted is an absolute monster, spanning some 96 minutes and 39 tracks, all carefully selected and mixed within a millisecond of perfection. Besides the obvious delights to be found within the mix, such as the many original OCELOT productions and remixes, other highlights to listen for include a towering mash-up of two cuts of DAFT PUNK’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” (the “Deadmau5 Remix” and “Accapella” versions) with the “MSTRKFT Remix” of JUSTICE smash “D.A.N.C.E.” It’s simple in concept, but clearly complex and massive sounding in its execution, an amalgamation of French House brilliance to be reckoned with. The vintage audio clips of ancient adverts for staple U.S. junk food cake Twinkie’s and AutoLite Wheels, used to bookend the opening and closing of the mix are likewise a stroke of genius.

We are needless to say very proud to welcome OCELOT into the mix for The Mixtape Project and we trust you’ll to stop by their MySpace to share the love.”

American Boy

Borut from Italian electrofunksters Scuola Furano sent this our way yesterday. The boys put together a rather excellent remix of the Estelle track “American Boy” or as they put it: “turned the original nice pop tune into a Todd Edwards lookalike”!

Björk + Ratatat

This made the rounds today. The latest Björk album “Volta” seemed to have passed by pretty much unnoticed but the remixes from it have been a bit more solid. Spank Rock and SMD already did their parts and now Ratatat turns their attention to “Wanderlust”, this features some strange bleeps and sounds along with some of those Ratatat guitars and a quirky double time beat but it actually fits really well with Björks vocals. (Thank you Asian Dan)
