I was just clicking to comment on the interviewer!!! Ha! Jeez… this emo/retro b-boy drag look has to stop. Dude looks like a 2002 era Larry Tee party exploded on his body! All the trust fund lofties in Brooklyn and aroud the world have to realize that being on a lot of drugs and dressing like a clown doesn’t erase the fact that your daddy’s on the Fortune 500 list.

know whats funny, that interviewer’s music is featured in no less than 9 discobelle posts, and if you are on this site enough to hate comment on an interviewer for what he’s wearing (this is a music blog) then maybe the jokes on you…
think about it, its a karmaloop sponsored video, he obviously gets paid to wear what they sell, not what he would wear. and no nattymari he’s not a trust fund loftie from brooklyn, he is one of the best producers and djs in boston, but i will not disclose his name because he obviously doesn’t disclose it in this video for a reason.

I listened to his tracks (not too hard to find out who it was)… he’s alright. Not my favorite (a little too minimal), but alright. As for the joke being on me… perhaps. Perhaps it is a joke, and the clothes are tongue in chic… but I have a little philosophical problem with that (in the dance world as well as the hip hiop world especially.) As a 37 year old beatfreak… I’ve fought for the better part of 30 (in person and in print) to legitimize and uplift the genre of dance and hip hop. Outrageous clothes and stupid outfits have been a part of nightlife forever – but KEEP IT IN THE CLUBS!!! When people do interviews and press dressed in b-boy drag or Elmo backpacks or whatever… it kind of cheapens the genre a little, no?!?!
It’s why dance has been compared to ‘handbags.’ And the new style is here before the old style gets nurtured. As an old fart – I love that the breaksy/big room sound usually on this blog has been nurtured for the better part of 10 years… This is a sound that came out of the early 2000 handbags (bootleg/electroclah/nubreaks…) You younsters stuck with the sound and made it something really good and lasting.
I’d just hate for you all to become another Gap ad or MTV bumper.
Sorry if I care!

Not a problem Haha. If he’s a good dude, I feel bad and apologize for trolling a blogspot I love. I’m sure I’ve dressed pretty dumb in the past (actually, my 80s New Romantic photos prove it ;) )
Personally, I really have always respected rasta style (the camo and earth tone type) and Detroit techno style… even skinhead style – in that it is always sharp, stylish and militant – and the concept of a uniform forces one to look at the music and personality of the genre… rather than the ‘Flashing Lights,’ as one of our favorite tracks to tweak calls it.

i checked the video half expecting the interviewer to be decked out in some gold pants and neon mesh tanktop… and what the ef? apart from the hat which has some kind of all over print dude is dressed pretty normal… white screen print tee, black jeans? don’t you brits have anything better to do than to constantly rag on any americans that are enjoying the many comforts of cotton garments??!?? how about you ‘right cunts’ take your raggedy hatin asses right on over to the steed lord myspace page and take your bloc party circa 2004 haircuts with you
