Salem - Brustreet

null

Patrick North (from SLU fame) hooked us up with this gem. SALEM will be the debut on his brand new label Acephale The record is due to be finished up in a few weeks and it’s pretty much already sold out. The sound is kind of hard to describe but here is Patricks attempt: “there is a huge gothy shoegaze thing going on but they also incoroporate elements of southern rap, juke and screw. Comparable bands are The Knife, Chromatics, Burial, Cocteau Twins etc etc.”

This is their interpretation of Bruce Springsteen’s “Streets of Philadelphia” - it’s entitled “Brustreet”. An eerie and hauntingly beautiful version.

The track sounds hella washed out in term of sound quality. I dunno, but this doesn’t hold a candle to some of those other dub step DJs, in my humble opinion.
