They walk, they lie, they love, they die, they live!

I just got the new single from Evil Nine in the mail and I must say that it’s the best thing I have received in the last weeks or so. The track is a tribute to director John Carpenter’s classic 1988 sci-fi ghoulfest “They Live” and their press release tell us: “Don’t be surprised if “They Live!” does for zombies what Daft Punk did for robots”.

This is the first release from their second album that will be released in September. “They Live! the album” will feature a number of surprising collaborations like El-P, Beans, Autokratz, Toastie, Seraphim and Emily Breeze. I can’t wait to get my hands on this.

“After all, zombies are just like us — just give them a chance!”

“They Live” isn’t about zombies. Literally it’s about aliens
who have infiltrated our society and are pulling the wool over our eyes,
and how Rowdy Roddy Piper finds out and decides to kick ass.

You could probably argue though that it’s an allegory about how we’re zombies in how we interact with mass culture…
