VICE x Bloc Party Mix by Top Billin

Since the success with my MGMT mix, Vice decided that they are going to continue to ask DJs to remix tracks from a certain artist. The second mix is with Bloc Party mixed by our friends in Top Billin. This is what Nenis from Top Billin had to say about the mix:

“We took on making a mix with that punk attitude, keeping the dynamics there so that it wouldn’t be too smooth operator mix, but have that rock feel in it. The tracks in the mix are all related in Bloc Party, influences and tracks that they’ve covered (like Prince) and of course kool tunes that are named block party. Hopefully you’ll dig it.”

Dirty & Hard

StereoHeroes are from the south of France and with this promotion remix of Djedjotronic track “Dirty & Hard” (which features South African rapper Spoek Mathambo of Sweat X fame on the mic, the “Dirty & Hard EP” will drop on Boys Noize Records on February 2nd), they bring out the big guns with a frantic club joint that contains a rolling bass and some huge synth action.

Metronomy vs. Blackout Crew

The Metronomy single “A Thing For Me” has been remixed en masse but none of the remixes have added such fast pace as this wild and ravey (donk?) number from Blackout Crew (we haven’t heard of them before but they sure grabbed our attention with this remix).

Mr Oizo – Lambs Anger (Noise Floor Crew’s Tribute to Flat Eric remix)

Chicago’s very own Noise Floor Crew with a bassy take on that strange Mr Oizo track “Lambs Anger”, the original sounds a little bit like that small yellow puppet went overboard in the studio just twiddling on some of the knobs.

“We wanted to remix something off the album (honestly we wanted to remix the whole album like we did with Portishead but we felt it would be redundant) so we chose the most abstract tune to work off of and turned it into some weirdo jackin house.”
