Mixin’ It Up: Adam Port

Friday and you know what that means, another edition in our Mixin’ It Up series. Today we have a stunning mix courtesy of German techno/house producer/dj Adam Port. We know that you’re gonna enjoy this one so cut to the chase and hand it over to Adam:

“Techno’s biggest flaw is its self-referencial tendency. You know the deal, the common contemporary DJ/Producer steals an Underground Resistance-record from his older brother at the age of 16 (biographical details may vary, not to impair the facts, though), thus presuming to have found the holy grail (what, of course, nobody is claiming to deny). His world is shrinking down to Detroit, Chicago, New York and Berlin within the following years, he’ll equip himself with records and turntables and not look over the rim of his MKII ever again. Adam Ports biography is different. Adam was Hardcore, when he was 16. No, not Rotterdam-Hardcore. We’re talking New York-, Boston- and Washington D.C.-Hardcore here. It’s a past that he still lives up to, cultivating it in his vegetarian-straight-edge-lifestyle. After that there was HipHop. He got in touch with turntablism, discovered his love for vinyl and evolved to be a skilled DJ for the first time. Then, finally came Techno. This way of tracing down spaces, giving one the best possible chance of self-development, is the essential reason for Ports presence being so unique. There’s no scene-dictated tunnel view in his activities, there is only a pointed emphasis on style, on groove and sophistication. An emphasis, that, because it’s informed by Dub, Danchall, Rap, Soul or even Psychedelic Rock, is advanced enough to always shine through the inflationary characteristic of the genre as notably original. That applies to both, his productions and his DJ-sets. What Adam Port is laying his hands on might have its place within the parameters of House and Techno, but it’s always more than that. It’s his style.

1. Adam Port – The American Dream / Unreleased

It’s always like this. The last track that i made is always my favorite one. “The American Dream” is brand new and the name for it sent me a friend via Skype yesterday (Thanks Kathi!).

2. Dennis Ferrer & Jerome Sydenham – Timbuktu (Pan-African Electro Beats)

Great loopy, tribe sound!! No vocals, no bassline just pure kick and fills. Very hypnotic thing. Love it!

3. Mutant Clan – Taling Deep / Unreleased

A new joint of my homeboys Timo Maas & Santos aka Mutant Clan. Unreleased and hot! Heard it the first time in a dj set of Alex Dolby and it was like “WOWWWW!! Who made this one?!”. A wundefull groove.

4. Matthew Dear & Seth Troxler – Hurt (Martinez Dark Soul Remix)

The original was already huge but a little bit difficult to fit into my set. This remix is easier to handle but still dope!

5. Adam Port & Santé – Faire Des Siennes / Rockets & Ponies

Here’s one track that i made with my partner in crime Santé! It will be released in the next two months on Rockt & Ponies. Madddddnnneeesss!!

6. Deniz Kurtel – Yeah feat. Guest Of Nature (Original Mix)

Deniz Kurtel. A new girl on my techno radar. Played her remix for No Regular Play a lot and like also the new joint. The vocals are a sureshot!

7. Adam Port – No Pain / Keinemusik

No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain…. and i feel no pain.

8. MRI – Lipsy Fieber

This one is a track the &Me plays a lot and i always ask him: “Dude! Who is it?!” and he always answerded: “MRI !!!!”. Now i got it. Now i bought it!

9. Daniela Stickroth – Backtalk / Meeresfief

Dark techno thing! Feel it! Suported it a lot on facbook and twitter. Berghain sound inna house! Big up Daniela.”

Don’t Give A…

Mike Mago, the Netherlands based producer and DJ just releasing his new single with on Subdrive called “Don’t Give A…”. The release has the title track “Don’t Give A” which is an insane bass monster with grit, and the b-side “Ready for the Action” which mixes old-school synth stabs, Mago’s basslines, and a Bmore style rhythm (get it on Itunes).

And check out the flyers for the two parties Subdrive throwing during WMC next week after the jump (you can can RSVP over at www.subdrive.net).
