canblaster

Canblaster – XLR8R Mix

French producer/dj Canblaster along with his cohorts in the Club Cheval crew will most likely be the producers to watch out for in 2011, here’s a massive mix that Canblaster just did for XLR8R.

“2010 was a good year for French producer Canblaster (a.k.a. Cédric Steffens), as the Club Cheval resident and former Bubblin’ subject debuted with the Jetpack EP and also dropped a string of hyperactive, genre-hopping remixes for the likes of Spoek Mathambo, Drop the Lime, J-Wow, Teki Latex, and others. Many of those efforts appear on this exclusive mix he’s put together for the XLR8R podcast series, an absolutely stacked DJ session that somehow squeezes in more than 50 tracks, the majority of which are unreleased. It’s the first salvo in what promises to be a frantic 2011 for Canblaster, who next month will be releasing his second EP, Master of Complication, on the Nightshifters label. Whether he’s experiencing sonic ADD or simply allowing his youthful exuberance to run wild, Canblaster’s DJ stylings appear to be just as schizophrenic as his production work, as his podcast bounces between hip-hop, R&B, house, rave, juke, electro, tribal guarachero, and more. Considering that the guy used to compose video game music for a living and cites Basement Jaxx as a major influence, it’s not exactly surprising that fun is always a major component of his musical equation.”

Canblaster – XLR8R Podcast, January 25th 2011 (link to XLR8R post)

Big tracklist after the jump.

PS. Watch out for his upcoming EP on Nightshifters.

Worthy – Big Perm

San Fran producer and Dirtybirder Worthy brings out the big guns with his “Big Perm” release right here on Discobelle Records, get your big perm on and shake it to this smashing EP.

Beware. The perm is back.

Discobelle’s new release from San Francisco’s Worthy is a percolating tech-house ass shaker infused with enough oomph to make you sweat until you’ve messed up your hair. An infectious vocal sample and an uncontainable bubbling vibe make this one peak hour jacking tech-house at its best.

Accompanying the original, we’ve got three great remixes to round out the package from Worthy – Harvard Bass, Renaissance Man and Femme En Fourrure. First up, Harvard Bass gives a chunky, infectious bruiser that strikes a perfect balance between the deeper dancefloors and the uncontrollable, messier ones. Then, architects-turned-house-music-innovators Renaissance Man turn Worthy’s track into a sparse and icy percussive techno journey, continuing to push house music to deeper, stranger places. Finally and also from Helsinki, Femme En Fourrure choose to let things simmer a bit with a druggy pulse and some signature female vocals evoking Laura Palmer’s from Twin Peaks if she was making dance music.

Paradise Garage

“Paradise Garage” is the contribution by Berlin based dj/producer Mike Genius (resident at the succesful Get Wavey parties) for the fine compilation “Think Tank” (just released by Rock It Science Laboratories, can be found on Beatport). Mike offers up a funked up, jacking house bomb of a track that makes us wish that Paradise Garage still existed and that this track would be played so that everyone on the dancefloor could get freaky.
