Sophie Rimheden & Eboi – Whiz Kid

One of Sweden’s most talented rappers – Eboi, and one of Sweden’s most innovative electro producers – Sophie Rimheden, have put their excellent skills together and made a just perfect track – “Whiz Kid”.

Eboi has become a well-known artist over the past two years while performing and touring with Adam Tensta. He is a gifted rapper with a Southern accent and combines impressive flows with complex lyrics.

Sophie Rimheden has made four electronica albums and is working on a new album right now. She enjoys mixing different styles to produce something new and interesting.

(You can hear some vocal parts from the singer in Bob Hund if you listen carefully!)

J. Phlip – Petcast #20

San Francisco based (god) J Phlip puts in some work with a big contribution to the long-running Catz N Dogz Petcast series. It’s filled with music that may not necessarily be for peak time on the dancefloor, but it’s still good insight into Phlip’s influences and inspiration. However, that being said, titling one of the tracks on your mix as “you wish you knew suckas” may be a bit mean spirited.

Round Table Knights – Say What?!

After several years worth of EPs filled with ecstatic house music vibes, Round Table Knights have finally dropped their debut album on Made To Play today.

The album seems like it’s almost comprised of two halfs, the first working as a showcase for RTK’s pure dancefloor muscle. “Drop The Dow” remains the best piece of acapella-scat house I’ve heard, and even after playing it out about a hundred times, there’s something amazing about “Calypso” that continually rocks the house, even if it’s being played outside in -20 degree Canadian winter.

But the second half is even more surprising because of the organic approach that it embraces. “Why Be Serious” not only embodies their mantra for house music in 2010, but floats along on a beat that you’d be happy to hear as the last song of the night, a “throw your hands in the air and praise the gods of house” kinda ordeal. And instead of delivering mediocre marching band house music, “Paparussi” incorporates some seriously soulful trumpets that sound like anything but a canned pro tools sound effect.

There are also a well placed downtempo moments, including the closer “All Night” featuring Ghosttape, which sounds like it’s floating out the window of some low-rider that’s driving by on the long walk home from the club, just before the sun rises.

You can stream the whole album below, and you should absolutely pick it up on Beatport. Congratulations dudes!

Sinnamon – Thanks To You (Johanna Knutsson Edit)

We just heard from Johanna Knutsson a few days ago with her recent Klasse release, and now here’s a blissed out edit of female r&b outfit Sinnamon’s soul tinged 1982 effort “Thanks To You”. The Klasse Recordings soundcloud page is also full of free bootleggings, which sound like they’d serve nicely being played out in a room that could fit about eighty people, preferably with dim lighting and some unpronouncable drink names.

Grab it from Soundcloud below:

Flocka Riddim

Looking back on 2010, it’s pretty difficult to find many tracks that match the “I absolutely don’t give a fuck” swagger of Wacka Flocka Flame. Even Lex Lugor admits that every rapper in the world wants him to produce something that sounds identical to “Hard In The Paint” now, and for fairly understandable reasons.

Formerly a contributor to our “Mixin It Up” series, DJ Cable returns with a Wacka Flocka edit that transforms the thing into a 16 bar grimey edit with collaborators Fused Forces. You can expect the word “Flocka!” to get screamed a lot, and various onomatopoeia being yelled by Flockavelli, and general rowdiness.

Sail With Me

L.A based duo Acid Girls swerves into deep house territory with their new remix for pop outfit Ima Robot and the track “Sail With Me”. Choppy vocals along with handclaps and breezy, dreamlike synths paired up with a pulsating beat makes for a magical end result.
