Jacques Greene – Tell Me (Kingdom Edit)

Kingdom throws some throbbing percussion underneath the sleeper hit from Jacques Greene’s “The Look” EP, and then builds an entirely separate vocal sample that’s integrated seamlessly from the original one. It doesn’t hurt that the original of “Tell Me” is already a pulsating, hypnotic gem. As someone who’s listened to the original of the track so many times that it’s etched into my brain, I thought the changes were pretty small at first; but halfway through something shifts and it becomes a totally new thing.

Scotland based label LuckyMe are building an army of talent who you’ll probably keep hearing rave reviews about throughout 2011; Jacques is only one member of a much bigger creative family that’s worth getting familiar with. If somehow you missed Greene’s debut EP on LuckyMe, grab it and hold it close to you throughout the night.

Oneman – Ninety Three Mixtape

Oneman with a mix for Lucky Me, another level and this will accompany us for a long time.

“Peace to Nikita

First time we ever met Bok Bok was at Ballers Social, the night Joey used to run on our behalf in Glasgow. I remember sittin backstage in Stereo (Sushon’s second show with Joe in Glasgow) with a blinking bar light, sat on cheap plastic seating with Jack Revill aka Jackmaster talking about how metronome-tight Oneman was – How he was ‘techno tight’. I mean, a DJ’s-DJ is kind of a rare thing in 2011 when even the guy who cleans your windows probably fucks with Serato. But Oneman is just that and here he explains why with an excellent tracklisting that’s so on-point with references we love that we feel almost embarrassed like he dropped the Quiet Storm instrumental in just for us. Big up the head of 502.”

Here’s the video for the single “Need You Now” and the band also did a mixtape entitled “A Tale Of Two Journeys”. Catch Cut Copy pretty much all over the world during the rest of the year.

The mixtape is described as being: “A medley of hits performed live at the Island Diamond Dance Hall in ’87 by Bobby Boomerang and his band.”
