Art Nouveau – Air France / Souk EP

The new EP on Demento Mori from Reims, France housemeisters Art Nouveau is sounding pretty fresh.

Tough to pick a favorite with the clanging mariachi band clatter of “Souk” and the tropical hustle of “Air France”, but the standout might absolutely have to be their LOL Boys collaboration “Air France II”, rightfully dubbed “ephemeral juking house” by a friend. LOL Boys are known for their meme-like adaptability, but this one sounds absolutely anthemic, and possibly could usurp all their other efforts as the jam that they come to be known for authoring. The vocal sample choice alone should be used to treat depression.

Gucci Vump also turn in some work that reminds me of arriving in a Tokyo airport after a seventeen hour flight; half delirious from all the free drinks the stewardess served you, a bit nauseous from the turbulence, and trying to figure out when your ears are going to pop.

EP drops on February 28th, but to tide you over, you can listen to the whole sh-bang below:

brodi

The Aiku – The Red Kiss (Brodinski Remix)

Brodinski sounds like he’s been working overtime and not sleeping too much, because this remix of The Aiku’s is in total afterhours mode and sends you down a teeth grinding wormhole, reminiscent of Brodi’s earlier work on “Bad Runner”. But when you get to the bottom of that wormhole, there’s a little bit of sweetness in the Aiku’s vocals lurking there before the whole thing self destructs and sputters back into darkness. Kreepy, but absolutely worth it.

The Aiku’s “Red Kiss” EP drops in March and has a dub version as well if you’d prefer to cut out the little bit of poppiness left in the tune.

DJ Anonymous – The Quiet Storm House Mix

DJ Anonymous, out of Helsinki, is a straight up house/disco connoisseur and a serious record collector. Here’s a mix he just did in ode to timeless dance music.

“Here’s a little treat for all of you who love timeless dance music as much as I do, an 80 minute mix of some of my fave late-80’s and early-90’s deep house jams. From NJ to Chicago to Detroit, these records were groundbreaking then and in many cases still are, some 20 years after the fact.”

FEX FELLINI – NEW ORLEANS

Fex Fellini brings a new EP on his Globelle imprint, bringing together three sounds from localized dance music centers of the world. The guitar tinged techy romper “New Orleans” matches the sweaty, gasping-for-breath feeling of “Mumbai” in terms of energy, but “Barcelona” gets a bit deeper and weirder, with a submerged sonar frequency that makes the rusty horns sounding off underneath. It’s no surprise that it’s already garnered big feedback from folks like Claude Von Stroke, Zombie Nation, Round Table Knights and more.

Listen to a sampler of the EP here, and then also observe this very fresh Top Billin mix Fex recently dropped on the world, which features some serious heat from LOL Boys, Mercury, Joyce Muniz & Luca Lozano.

BONUS:

Fex did us the honor of sharing a radio edit of “New Orleans” not available to buy anywhere for your jacking house listening pleasure.

canblaster

Canblaster – Clockworks

If this (possibly NSFW, depending on where you work) video wasn’t enough proof that Nightshifters is dedicated to doing dance music a truly weird & original fashion, then the latest release from Club Cheval footsoldier Canblaster should do the job.

After turning everything from shattering windows, laser beams and old modem sounds into percussion on his past several remixes, 22 year old Cédric Steffens brings forth the “Master Of Complication” EP, which is “a concept record about time, speed and, well, the complexity of watches.”

As genre-defying as dance music comes these days, “Clockworks”, the slowest track (132bpm), kicks it all off with a soaring melody of reverberant House stabs and ticking watch beats. One notch faster is the UK influenced jam “Triple Ring” (140bpm), a footwork inspired fistfight inducing tune called “Lost In The Shell” (160bpm) and more. Teki Tek and Para One also contribute an android-human hybrid remix worthy of unravelling time and space as we know it.

Grab the musical equivalent to the Large Hadron Collider HERE, and check out a free Canblaster track from the EP below.

Sinden & SBTRKT – Seekwal (video teaser)

Sinden & SBTRKT with “Seekwal” and it sounds tight! Out February 21st on Grizzly.

In Doubt

French spooky italodisco producer Bernard Fevre AKA Black Devil Disco Club is on the verge of dropping the new album “Circus” (will be out April 11th) but the single “In Doubt” is released digitally on February 28th and features remixes from Danger, Mondkopf, Eckman, Ben Butler and Mousepad. This Danger remix features cinematic strings paired up with a thunderous beat.

bagraiders

Bag Raiders – Sunlight (StopMakingMe Remix)

While my favorite Bag Raiders track is forever going to be their 30 second cover of Bang’s classic “Take U To The Movies”, this StopMakingMe remix of their appropriately titled “Sunlight” track is also a contender with sun drenched, finger snapping vocals and plenty of synth.

Grab it below, New Bag Raiders album is out on Modular on Feb 21st.
