darksky

Dark Sky – Promiscuous Gyal

New Dark Sky track is perfectly suited for a dark basement at four thrirty in the morning, and also the freshest dub bootleg I’ve heard in ages. Their reworking of a very well known Timbo & Nelly Furtado track starts out with dragged vocals over some weird chanting and a drugged out percussive beat, but soon bursts apart into something that’ll make your body convulse till it feels like it’s gonna tear apart at the seams. Coming soon on Erca Mystery Projects as on a limited edition one sided white label vinyl.

And now that it’s finally streamable in full on Soundcloud, I won’t have to play the Boiler Room youtube video of it on repeat five times a day, even though it’s very much worth a watch to see people in the back go from milling around to freaking out when it comes on.

sake

Jupiter – Sake (minimix)

Parisian duo Jupiter (who, much like a surprisingly high amount of people releasing music on Kitsune, are a couple) deliver a well deserved homage to my current hometown of Osaka’s choice drink 酒, also known as hangover inducing sake.

Remixes hit the spot perfectly, with contributions from Blackjoy, In Flagranti, and a slice of perfection by reunited French dream team Para One & Tacteel. Check out a free downloadable minimix below, and grab your pre-order on iTunes.

Night Slugs x Boiler Room

Our friends in London based but taking over the world massive known as Night Slugs took over the infamous The Boiler Room in London monday and now the Bok Bok and Girl Unit sets have surfaced, full on vibes!

“What is Girl Unit? Juke? Dubstep? Drag?! Nope, he’s none of them. He’s the original founder of G-Unit, who left before they made the big time because of their degrading views on women and lack of tracks devoted to social issues. Maximum respect!”

Bok Bok flying the flag for Night Slugs, and the idea that all you need to dance ’til your shoes fuck up is drum beats and basslines in varying forms.”

PS. Check out the Night Slugs crew taking over XOYO for the Bang The Box party in London tomorrow (saturday March 5th).

Tyler The Creator – French (video)

Yelle – Safari Disco Club/Que veux-tu? (video)

Exclusive premiere!

“Today Yelle is releasing not one but two new eye-popping videos (by Canadian director Jeremie Saindon), which together form a miniature film for their forthcoming album “Safari Disco Club” (March 14th; V2/Cooperative Music). In the first half, which is the video for the album’s title track, the trio hit the dance floor to create a real-life safari disco club. The second half, which is the clip for “Que Veux-Tu,” finds GrandMarnier hopping behind a drum kit, Tepr manning the keys, and frontwoman Julie Budet slipping into a sparkly red dress to keep the party going. In both clips Yelle are joined by dance crew Fanny Pak, who were featured on the MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. Like all things Yelle, the videos are a place where late night fun, fashion, and a sly sense of humor all come together.”

The Criime – Discobelle Mixtape

Be(ne)lux duo The Criime just released their debut EP “Fidji” on the ever so productive Finnish label Top Billin, filled with techhouse that captures the essence of a minimalistic, percussion based tropical dancefloor. The boys just finished this exclusive mixtape for us in Discobelle that continues where the release finished – warm and deep techhouse to make you groove and break a sweat – and they even threw in a bonus track in the form of a cheeky MJ bootleg.

Greco-Roman for Trax Magazine

Joe from Hot Chip and Full Nelson have put together a mix for Trax Magazine bursting at the seams with releases from their Greco-Roman label, named after the homo-erotic olympic sport favoured by Eastern Europeans and frat boys, but famous for their series of underground, rarely advertised London parties. Featuring new music from Justin Martin, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Drums of Death, it’s a nice showcase for a steadily expanding label.
