Adam Port – The American Dream (video)

miracle_1

Miracle – The Visitor (The Field remix)

Miracle is a brand new duo made up of British art rock heroes Steve Moore (from Zombi, Titan) and Daniel O’ Sullivan (from Guapo, Ulver, Sun O))). They’re releasing ther debut single “Fluid Window” on House Anxiety Records this month and this is dark, sleek, synthy electro pop. Swedish experimental techno producer The Field delivers a 10 minute pop/ambient sounding remix of b-side track “The Visitor” and turns the darkness of the original to light aural bliss.

LOL BOYS – Runaways (Grown Folk Remix)

LOL Boys are so diverse that one might almost think they were children of the internet. No, not like a metaphor, I mean that it’s quite possible that they were birthed through a 3 1/2-inch floppy disk drive, or that they began as avatars on Second Life who gained consciousness and started making dance music splicing tribal guarachero and percussive tech house with So-Cal pool party sensibility with a nice nod to classic g-funk on top.

“Runaways” is a bittersweet early morning house tune with a cinematic appeal and thudding drums. It feels like the apex of an eerie but heartfelt conceptual journey through the metaphysical space of the internet, and Montreal folks Grown Folk have given it a supreme reworking that we’re happy to share with you.

If you grab the EP on Juno Download
you’ll also be treated to the original of Runaways, and “Aisle Seat”; an accordian backed reggateon piece of LOL Boys signature percussive ingenuity and warped diva vocals. There’s also “Intuition”, which shuffles along on a static overdose of weed induced heartbreak – like the sound of Just Blaze having an existential crisis, selling everything he owns and moving to the desert. And if you missed out on “Blockz” when we last posted it, the video tells you all you need to know.

Daniel Bortz – Boyz II Men

Knocking down the very sparse remaining walls dictating what can & can’t be done in dance music, Daniel Bortz of Berlin based Suol label has made an undeniably original effort with his latest “The One” EP.

The standout track is the Cocorise / Antony & The Johnsons collaboration sampling “Boyz II Men”, which somehow manages to lift the frazzled despair of the original into a rolling piano house ballad while still keeping the emotional “oomph” of Anthony Hegarty’s fragile but powerful voice. Charted by the Round Table Knights this month, it’s an amazing sampling decision.

…sorry if you thought this song employed a Boyz II Men sample from looking at the title – however, if that’s a void that needs filling, check out the Catz ‘N Dogz + Soul Clap collaborative project (Clapz II Dogz) and their polished take on an old classic.

OG Chicago Juke

Footwork! The chopped vocal samples and high BPM dance music accompanied by some minimal tom-toms, claps, bass and kick. Somehow, it always manages to match the intensity of the dances accompanying it.-

DJ Clent, DJ Rashad, Manny & Traxman are four Chicago natives responsible for some of the most invigorating cuts from the genres of juke & footwork, and accompanying them as they storm through New York on a world tour of sorts. They’ve been generous enough to give out a blisteringly fast footwork sample pack of slapped and chopped infectious music, like, god damn, I’m sitting on the floor typing this in my apartment and my feet are involuntarily twitching like I’ve got some nervous system infection right now. Grab them below, and make sure to be there when they come to your city.

Thanks to The Fader for upping these beauties!
