Bache Gabrielsen x Teki Latex

French producer/dj/entrepeneur Teki Latex (who we consider to be Discobelle family) is involved with so many cool projects, the latest one sees him collaborate with Norwegian cognac brand Bache Gabrielsen for a limited edition bottle of VSOP Cognac and of course we get some music to go with the release of this collaboration. The track “Zodiac” (production from Bambonou, remixes from Das Glow and Panteros666) where Teki rap/sings over a laidback, synthbased futuristic dance beat. The whole EP is offered as a free download via the campaign website so get over there and get your drink on…

Chambacu

Swedish dj and certified maker of mad tracks – Tony Senghore – blasts our speakers with his turned down remix of new Munich bass heroes Schlachthofbronx single “Chambacu Remixes” (released today on Mad Decent), this is what it must feel like to be stuck in a washing machine of buzzing beats.

PS. He also just finished this remix of the new Buraka Som Sistema banger “Hangover (Bababa)”.

Azari & III Are (Still) Hungry For The Power

This isn’t the first time that Azari & III have made a video for “Hungry For The Power” – their previous effort had a bit of a censorship snafu with youtube, who felt that the pornographic, sexual, and possibly murderous themes expressed within it had no place on the interweb. You can watch a re-edited version of that video HERE, but it’s equally advisable to check out the new 2011 video version.

The first 30 seconds feel like they’re taken straight out of the Red Hot Chili Peppers video for “Scar Tissue”, right down to the pouring the sand out of your water canteen portion. But then, suddenly, BAM – it’s a beach party, lead vocalist Starving Yet Full is wearing lots of really dope looking clothes, and everyone is messing around outside their hotel room while a Toronto Blue Jays baseball cap gets heavily represented (their way of showing off their heritage, maybe).

Regardless of whether you’ve heard it before or bought it before, “Hungry For The Power” is out on Turbo Recordings with some spicy remixes from The Art Department and Jamie Jones.

Thunderheist – Jerk It (Nacho Lovers ‘Jerk your Body’ remix)

Original supposed to be a vinyl only thing, Nacho Lovers have retroactively decided to share their 2008 remix for Toronto’s now defunct Thunderheist – taking it back to an 808 pad, Chicago house mixed with a bit of booty twerking ghetto house and a vocal cut smooth enough to melt butter on.

Considering this was released over three years ago, it’s a really positive sign to see how well it holds up quality wise now. Download for free from Soundcloud!

Azari & III For Test Pressing

Alixander III of Azari & III lets his hair down for the esteemed Test Pressing series of mixes, offering up everything from their spaced out disco influences, to some more unconventional choices such as the Dum Dum Girls. Impressive.

NAT SELF – MR. MONKEY (RACHEL BARTON REMIX)

From the first listen to Nat Self of Zombie Disco Squad’s re-edit of Edwin Starr’s protest song “War”, I was hooked. It took all the oomph and fun of a classic track, and repackaged it in some bumpy house anthem that kept all the sincerity of the vocals of the original while maintaining an infectious jacking house energy.

Whereas the solo work from Luca Lozano (the other half of the duo) for Klasse Recordings honed in on a bit more of the minimal elements of ZDS’s productions, the new “Dinner Party On The Moon” EP from Nat on the notably emerging Jackmode Music label feels like a much more unhinged version of Zombie Disco Squad trax – rave anthems to be blasted at a festival while intermittently blowing on a whistle and grinding your teeth.

Grab a Rachel Barton remix of one of the bounciest cuts from the EP below:

Frank Ocean – Novacane (Dan M edit)

Danish producer/dj and Mothership affiliate Dan M dips his production skills in the honeyjar better known as “Novacane” originally done by Odd Future crooner Frank Ocean. Dan goes deep with his edit and in the process adds some extra thump to the track, the bittersweet feeling of the original stays intact and this feels like the soundtrack to when you’re trying to get home from some after hours club out in a desolate part of town.

French Fries for The Boiler Room

French Fries recently played at The Boiler Room in London and he tore the roof of that place, just listen.

“Did you all know that French Fries is the number one French guy in the world right now? He’s even halfway towards being the best thing to come out of France since the French Fancy (note: did some research and French Fancies aren’t French at all, what a scam).”
