Heartbreak Presents : Moombahsoul Volume 1

Summer solstice was yesterday and since it’s now officially summer we’ll be bumping this moombahsoul compilation (includes tracks from Sonora, Munchi, Jon Kwest etc.) done by Heartbreak until at least september.

“In 15 tracks, ten talented men intend to inspire romantic passion. This is the literal soundtrack for the creation of the next generation of dance aficionados. This is sexual music, this is passionate music meant to inspire love. This is the music that makes the dance floor steam, this is the music that turns on the red lights, this is the music for the slow grind, the dark corner make out. This is the soundtrack for iconic moments that get stuck in your head as you remember why you love to dance, and why you love music. Love is a universal connective emotion, and is celebrated here in full.”

Bambounou – Alpha EP (video teaser)

BΛMBOUNOU ΛLPHΛ E.P from Youngunz on Vimeo.

Bambounou is back among humanoids, after covering the entire world bewitching it with animist incantations, the kid, a bit less kiddy but still wild and genuine in his productions and dj sets, comes back to tell you about his obsession for repetition, perpetuals motions and animated gifs. A dark and paradoxically extremely warm EP, an eclipse, a black sun using all of your senses, even the 6th until burning your eardrums with his shady UV radiations. Four originals tracks which takes you to a sweaty, violent, sometimes sexy but never emotionless self communion, this work will certainly not let you unharmed. Talents discoverer and mental explorer, after a world tour of influences he picked up artists to remix this EP: Lunice (Canada), Teeth (Finland), Ikonika (England) and Darling Farah (Middle East) are each revisiting, in a very personal way, the originals tracks but still keeping the first aim, to fuck your mind and your heart all this summer.”

Bambounous “Alpha” EP will be out July 25th.

Creep – You (Planningtorock Remix)

Pitched, shifted, warped, slowed, whatever you want to call the recent techniques that’ve been applied to the vocals in dance music in 2010-2011, none of the terms seem to appropriately encapsulate the ways that Planningtorock shifts the vibe of Creep’s “Days” into even darker territory. I would call it more of a “possession” or “chipmunk from hell” effect, if you had to stick a term on it.

Soulja Boy – Conceited (Video)

Umm, did Soulja Boy just say “I look better than your girlfriend” on a track? Damn, yeah, that’s kind of conceited.

Botnek for BBC Radio 1

The fellas from Botnek just did a mix for Kissy Sell Out’s BBC Radio 1 program, which they classify as full of “bleeps and bloops”. Simply put, but accurate.

Stream it below if you’re okay with looking at the weirdness that is Kissy Sell Out’s haircut. Also, Plonk EP is out now on DBR

Midnight Lion – All Greatness Stands Firm (A JD Twitch Optimo Remix)

JD Twitch aka Keith McIvor is one half of Optimo (the legendary Glasgow party), he’s also an outstanding remixer which he shows us with this take on fellow Glaswegians in Midnight Lion and the track “All Greatness Stands Firm”. JD Twitch twists it to a hypnotic acid house feel with the help of pulsating lazerlike synths, ping pong sounds echoing in the background, the odd bleeps here and there and repeated use of some of the original vocals.
