grownfolk

The-Dream, Lil Wayne and Kelly Rowland – Motivation (Grown Folk Bootleg)

Grown Folk provide a tasteful re-edit for a song about less than tasteful “grown folk stuff”. The end product is definitely not PG 13 pop music, but definitely one that showcases their genuine love for the source material.

2) It’s going to be produced by Para One (eeeeeee!).
3) There is a new single called “Defiant Order” that is out now.
4) It is everything and more that you could expect from Birdy Nam Nam.

Gaines – Moombahton DJ Mix

DJ Daruma and his crew in Dexpistols/Roc Star Tokyo are holding down the fort over in Japan’s capital, here’s a moombahton mix (this thing can certainly be found all over the world) from twin duo Gaines (Kiboo and Koboo). Tight and fun, play this to get that summer feel.

Tracklist, as always, after the jump.

MayaVanya & Magik Johnson (ft. Silva MC & Tek) – Don’t Need No One (video)

MayaVanya & Magik Johnson (Feat Silva MC & Tek) – Don’t Need No One from Pomp&Clout on Vimeo.

Vondelpark – Camels (Video)

New video from R&S Records signee Vondelpark, blending acoustic sound with the post-everything dance music influence adopted by other recent R&S prodigies such as James Blake.

Vondelpark’s take on things come off sounding a whole lot more optimistic though. Catch them performing live for Boiler Room broadcast on Tues 21st June as part of an R&S Records showcase.

Inspiration: New Order – Bizarre Love Triangle (Shep Pettibone Extended Dub Mix)

Recently I’ve been getting lost in the world of previously undiscovered 12″ extended mixes for tracks that I didn’t know had club friendly alternative versions.

While New Order’s classic “Bizarre Love Triangle” is already perfectly tailored for dance parties worldwide, there’s something especially satisfying about Shep Pettibone’s dub version, which edits out all the vocals and lets the lightning drums and absolutely un-improvable snyth line speak for itself. Something spiritual about it all, y’know?
