Cousin Culo – Bangla Blend

Mysterious producer “Cousin Culo” (that name sounds so familiar) drops a moombathon influenced reworking which pieces together different sections of the Slap In The Bass and The Coconut Wireless remixes of recent Discobelle Records release “Bangla”.

Probably best to download it for free below before you find it showing up in New Delhi flea markets on an unmarked CDR being sold next to Iranian trance music and above the Thai minimal techno for a considerably higher price. Also, if you’ve slept on the Bangla release so far, you can still grab it on Beatport!

Solo – Strawberry Swing EP + Free DJ Mag Mix

The Italian house juggernaut Solo has just released a new track on Great Stuff! Recordings which rivals everything else he’s put out thus far.

While recent release “Midgets Go Deep” was a straight up cut of soulful housey reminiscing, “Strawberry Swing” employs a twitching kind of distortion at the base of its groove – the house flourishes are there in the background, but most of your attention is taken up by the expanding and deflating warped percussion elements of the track. You can grab the track on the new Munich Discotech Volume 12 compilation.

Preview Strawberry Swing below, and grab a free mix that Solo put together for DJ Mag that’s crammed with the usual / unusual selection of rump shaking cuts that he’s known for.

Axel Boman – Lucky Tiger EP

Axel Boman goes from strength to strength with a string of excellent releases, his new EP “Lucky Tiger” will be released September 3rd on Glass Table and it’s a must have.

Mayer-Hawthorne-05232011

A Long Time

It seems like every weekend we get something new from Mayer Hawthorne, this one being no exception. Mayer Hawthorne is currently supporting Canadian eletrofunksters in Chromeo on their North American and here they splice up the track “A Long Time” with a galloping disco bass and 80′s synths.

Myrryrs – Feel U (Voltron’s “Another Love Lost” Remix)

Young US producer Myrryrs is the latest signing to Discobelle Records and his “Feel U EP” has been in the works for a couple of months now but still has us giddy with excitement. His influences are listed as the dark, the light and the drums, a holy trinity is certainly evident in his productions.

Samo Sound Boy, Clicks & Whistles and Teki Latex & Bambounou all contribute ‘pon remix duty, all of which you can hear in full on Soundcloud. Highlights include Teki getting his existential longing charged thugged out love rap on and Samo Sound Boy layering pounding chants overtop the original that add a sense of dancefloor urgency to affairs.

Not a part of the original release package but no less exceptional is this Voltron remix, which adheres to a tightly paced early-rave workout including Footsteps shuffling down a hallway, tuning forks and a breakdown that sounds like two young dolphins in love who are communicating underwater, maybe plotting some kind of anti-human mutiny. Ecstatic, weird, fun dance music for the ages. Grab it below, and keep on guard for when the EP drops August 25th!

River Seine

Relish Recordings delivers their latest signing, International is a new duo from somewhere south of the Alps, Relish welcomes International. The inaugural release – “River Seine” – is an Ibiza meets Manchester piano driven number with 909 snares, simple delays and tightly enveloped chords lend that Detroit nod. Hercules & Love Affair member Kim Ann Foxman provides us with a more discofueled remix where she even adds a bit of her own vocals to give the remix that little extra something.

Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame – She Be Puttin’ On (video)

Is “Ferrari Boyz” better than “Watch The Throne”?

Apparat – Black Water (video)

Apparat are back, the track is taken from their forthcoming album “The Devil’s Walk” which will be released on 26 September 2011 on Mute.
