Melé – Starlight EP

Just like Lil Bow Wow or Lil Romeo or maybe even some folks who don’t have the word “lil” at the beginning of their name but who show a lot of talent early in life, UK producer Melé has accrued some massive credentials while technically still being a teenager. Among the notable ones is the “Bombay” EP, three tracks of swelling, amorphous dance music on Mixpak Records. Another might be his recent tunes dropped on Sinden’s Grizzly label, not to mention all the accolades he’s been getting from Annie Mac, Sinden, Brenmar and Toddla T,

But instead of praising Melé for accomplishing so much at a young age, we’re going to praise him for never sticking to a single format for too long. And while the new Starlight EP dropping Sept. 12th on Mixpak Records doesn’t abandon the sound he’s been cultivating for the past few years, it does bring in some new elements into the tapestry – murky Detroit techno pings and Southern rap snare rolls are now mixed into proceedings.

The first track, “Starlight Express,” takes a page out of the bangin’ Jeff Mills playbook while “What’s The 411″ flips Dance Mania drums on their face. The other two cuts, “Lego” and “Raider”, manage to merge contemporary rap production signifiers with otherworldly electro, creating the perfect soundtrack to the next Sci-Fi blockbuster starring Waka Flocka Flame.

Stream it below and show Lil Melé, er sorry, just Melé some support by grabbing the EP on the 12th.

Lean House

Them Paris marauders are at it again, new french dj/producer Boston Bun is onto something with his robotussin infused lean house movement. Together with dancefloor aficionado Brodinski he’s started screwing and sometimes chopping up house classics etc. at 108 bpm and the result is remarkable. Be sure to bookmark the lean house Tumblr and Soundcloud pages where you’ll find an exclusive edit for download every week.

We can exclusively give you the Boston Bun “Lean House Mixtape” filled to the brink with slo-mo house edits from an all-star team ranging from LOL Boys to Surkin, an exclusive edit from Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team and also the Boston Bun remix of recently released track “Javier” from Club Cheval member Myd.

“Do we really need to explain why we scew and chop our favorite house tracks? This is a dedication to H-Town, from Paris with love, RIP DJ SCREW. HOUSIZZURP, SLOW MO ON THE DANCEFLOOR”

Eli Escobar “Desire” feat. Nomi Ruiz (Video)

The new Eli Escobar release is everything we’d expect from New York’s dance party juggernaut, and another EP of remixes is about to follow, featuring work from DJ Sneak, Ian Pooley, Cosmic Kids, Toni Toni Lee and newcomers Cocolores (Exploited).

Grab the original “Desire” EP on Beatport, if for no other reason than Nomi Ruiz’s voice and including a fantastic rework by Eli – also available is this “Desire” promo mix on Soundcloud – jammed with the kind of stuff that gay teenagers in small southern suburban towns dream about when they think of moving to New York.

The Living Islands – Empires (Sam Tiba Remix)

The self described “most discrete member of Club Cheval“, weed aficionado and general dance music miracle worker Sam Tiba has been making relentlessly unique dance music in 2011, reworking everyone from Crookers side project Dr. Gonzo to French turntablists Birdy Nam Nam and Nightshifters’ very own Lucid.

Now, we’re lucky enough to share an old track Sam Tiba remix that will never see a proper release which has been played out often by Girl Unit, Bok Bok and others. Huge grimey strings, codeine injected dreamy vocals floating around the background and what might be maracas clapping together in rapid succession create something similar to the sound of broken glass on concrete. Big and commanding without being overly noisy, it’s guaranteed to turn heads and shake spines on the dance floor.

Den Svenska Björnstammen – Vart Jag Mig I Världen Vänder (Shitsmiths Remix)

Den Svenska Björnstammen is a Swedish group that started out in 2010 and they had instant success with their track “Vart Jag Mig I Världen Vänder” (released on newly started Swedish label Goldenbest) which has climbed to the top of the charts, it’s the top 1 listened track on Spotify in Sweden and top 3 worldwide. Fellow Swedes in production duo Shitsmiths starts off with what sounds like a crunchy electro remix but turns out to be a delightfully twitchy and druggy discoish remix. This is the first in the line of 12 remixes to be released so be on the lookout for lots more.

3 Days Lost In Ibiza

Dirtybird head honcho and SF godfather of dance music Claude VonStroke got lost in Ibiza for 3 days and give us this stellar mix.

“This mix speaks for itself. It is inspired by one of those trips where I found myself lost in the middle of nowhere and ended up staying positive and having a three day (extremely fun) misadventure around the island. This mix is a departure from what I normally do. I purposefully have no giant “bang you over the head tracks,” it is much more of a long, interesting flow. You can hear the ups and downs of a 3 day trip throughout a mysterious island in Spain.
- Claude VonStroke”
