The Internet – Cocaine (Little Dragon Kåkejn remix)

Gothenburg electropop quartet Little Dragon is an unlikely choice as remixers of The Internet track “Cocaine” but they decide to transform from a slow r’n'b soaked love affair into a chopped up, faster tune that skips ahead with the help of a steady beat and bleeping melody.

Christian d’Or – Disco Dick d’Or Mixtape

Danish dj Christian d’Or is the reigning disco champ over in Copenhagen and his new thumping, lingering on a steady 120 bpm “Disco Dick d’Or” mixtape is filled with sleazy disco that was tailormade for being played in small dungeonlike cellar clubs in order for the packed dancefloor lose their minds, clothes etc. (Via Artrebels)

Crookers – Monkey Face

The Italian duo Crookers have become known for their frantic electro and forward thinking clubs sounds designed to get an entire dancefloor drenched in sweat. They just released their debut album “Dr Gonzo” on which they’ve condensed the energy of their dj sets down to 60 minutes.

We here at Discobelle can present with you the funky, rattling bass filled and synthlaced track “Monkey Face” that even manages to throw in some saxophone sounding action and a break designed for destruction, this track is only available on the limited edition “Hummus” 7″ (200 copies) which you can get from crookers.net.

Crookers: Monkey Face (7″ Exclusive) by Southern Fried Records

As an added bonus, we’re able to give away five copies of the highly limited “Hummus” 7″. Send us an e-mail containing your name and delivery address, we’ll pick out the lucky winners. Deadline is friday at noon (CET).

FACT Mix 304: Mike Skinner

Mike Skinner is known under The Streets moniker and is responsible for some of the most seminal British records during the 00′s. He retired The Streets last year and since then he’s been working and making beats as one half of duo The D.O.T., a project together with Rob Harvey. But he’s also made this Fact Magazine mix tahtw e’ve been enjoying today at the Discobelle office.

“And so we have his FACT mix. We’ve never seen Skinner DJ, but it’s no surprise that he’s good at it: the mixing’s swift and tight, and as you might expect, he rolls through a selection of house and garage before indulging in some newer cuts from TRC, Joy Orbison, Julio Bashmore and Joker, and naturally, closing on jungle.”

Azari & III – Manic (Creep Remix)

Azari & III’s “Manic” served as further proof that they had many more tricks up their sleeves than just “Reckless With Your Love” remixes (thankfully); a frantic piece of acid pop deftly held together by the piercing diva vocals of Starving Yet Full.

Broklyn’s Creep (comprised of two Laurens, Dillard & Flax) seem like a fitting choice to rework “Manic” if only because their own 2011 breakout single “Days” seems to share a few things in common – the rough edges poking out underneath the pop structure, a little bit of a sinister element bubbling beneath the disco.

On this remix, you might be tricked into thinking you might have the high turned all the way down on your mixer, but nope, it’s just the pacing. Moody, stripped down and vaguely unsettling, it leaves much more room for the vocals to reverberate off the walls and bounce around in your head.
