Nights Like Bonita

A highly addictive new mash-up of Icona Pop’s hyped up single “Nights Like This” and Madonna’s 1987 classic mega hit “La Isla Bonita” surfaced yesterday and it’s already received airplay on Swedish National Radio. This is a match that works surprisingly well and it might be a testament to the influences of Icona Pop’s electro/dance/pop sound.

Architecture In Helsinki – W.O.W (Nicolas Jaar remix)

Experimental New York based production genius Nicolas Jaar remixes new single “W.O.W” by Australian outfit Architecture In Helsinki, and he brings out a remix less inclined for the club and more aimed towards strutting along with this playing in your headphones. He keeps the sunny feel of the original but with the help of the repeated vocals and soothing piano lines warps the track into an instantly likeable popesque ditty. Grab it for free below, all you need to do is provide your e-mail address in the form.

Ludacris (ft. Waka Flocka) – Rich & Flexin (video)

Gearing up for the weekend with the help of Ludacris and Waka Flocka, the track “Rich & Flexin” is taken off the recently released Ludacris mixtape “1.21 Gigawatts”.

Jazzanova – Look What You’re Doin To Me (Motor City Drum Ensemble Remix – Morid and Hifi3000 Dub Edit)

Usually when I see a track that’s been remixed and then re-edited, I shudder a bit because of the old “too many cooks spoil the soup” adage (or my own modern, less catchy incarnation: “too many re-edits ruin the spirit and ingenuity of the original production”). HOWEVER, that’s definitely not the case here, perhaps because Jazzanova’s original productions have never sucked me in. I chart it to the fact that their name sounds like a soft classics radio channel?

Regardless, messy haired Danilo Plessow, brainchild of Motor City Drum Ensemble is maybe the most trustworthy person to hand your material over to, and extra edit hands on deck Morid and Hifi3000 take care to make sure that the pacing and vibe of this track greatly surpasses the original. Geez, the violins?! The addictive but subtle percussion snapping in tune to the healthy bassline? It’s always a pleasant surprise when excessive editing manages to build something up instead of chip away at it.

NGUZUNGUZU – Transmusicales Mix

From their humble roots making improvised beats together for fun on cassette tape with no edits using mpc 2000 and keyboards that they would pass around for friends, NGUZUNGUZU have been steadily building up their global club / visual house empire with a torrential output of amazing releases and recent elemental channeling “Timesup” EP on Fade To Mind.

Now, enjoy another mixtape for Wow Magazine that keeps the spirit of raw cassette tape edits mixed with virtually unpredictable eclectic selection, including the amazing ridiculousness of “SCNF Riddim” by Jam City. Hack the world!!!!

Tracklist after the jump.

The KDMS – Tonight (Morgan Geist remix)

German label Gomma signed a new duo named The KDMS (consists of London vocal diva Kathy Diamond and Warsaw based producer Maximilian Skiba) and their initial single release on the label is off to a decent start (an album is to follow in 2012), this has alot to do with the fact that Morgan Geist (of Metro Area) fame contributed to the single with one of his rare remixes. Top dj’s such as Soul Clap, Jaymo, Tom Trago, Tensnake, Tim Sweeney and Aeroplane are all over it, the track is based around an icey 80′s synth that plays off handclaps and warm vocals to give us an uplifting experience. Swedish house maestro Axel Boman describes the remix as being: “shimmering little diamonds in the autumn night that will guide cold dancers towards warm experiences.”
