Returning to Candolim Beach for the final day of the Sunburn Festival, we were greeted by some really hot weather which seemed to fit perfectly for New Delhi crew and India’s first sound system Reggae Rajahs and their choice reggae sounds was a welcome change of pace before diving headfirst into the last day of electronic dance music madness. On one of the main stages at Ground A, British act Dirty Vegas made their Sunburn debut with a smasher of a set before DJ Pearl took the stage with a deep house set that started off with a speech on her sadness and anger about women issues in India, she dedicated her set to all the women in India. German legend Paul Van Dyk closed one of the main stages with a set that seemed to have half the festival crowd of 75 000 on their feet, the other half was dancing their hearts out to another legend, house dj Roger Sanchez, that finished off the Sunburn Festival 2012 in a proper epic style.

Albeit a bit tired from the first day of Sunburn Festival, the second day promised much more and our expectations were met with a bigger crowd attendance along with a spectacular party atmosphere. It seemed like the 60 000 in attendance were not content with less than one huge party night and boy did they had something coming their way. Scandinavia was represented today with Danish dj Djuma Soundsystem showcasing his brand of dark house and disco to bring the late afternoon attendees out of their hangovers and Sweden’s very own Albin Myers delivered a hard hitting set to transform the festival to one huge dance fest. Later on, Birmingham dj/producer Paul Thomas warmed things up on Cubezoid (one of the main stages) in a big way in order for Dutch super star dj Fedde Le Grand to put out an immense set. On the other side of the festival, Dutch duo Showtek had everyone from the bar in the back to the front going crazy with an arena sized set and they ended the night with the epic Dada Life track “Kick Out The Epic Motherf**cker” that had the crowd going – yeah, you guessed it – bananas…

The first day of the 2012 edition of the Sunburn Festival in Goa saw us at first wandering about the festival grounds checking out the various things on offer such as food stalls, various fun and games in booths from Absolut, Mini Cooper, Pioneer and Tuborg along with a flea market and lots of other things. The actual festival came out of the starting blocks with a relentless afternoon set of electro from Irish outfit The Japanese Popstars on one of the main stages. The duo pummeled the audience who loved every minute of it. Meanwhile on one of the smaller stages Indian dj Vinayak A smoothed things out a with a groovy and progressive house with a hint of disco set. As nightfall descended on the massive and beautifully beach located festival grounds, London dj/producer Avalon kept things pumping with a trancey set that made the crowd dance themselves into a frenzy, on the opposing main stage Mumbai dj Nawed Khan immersed the crowd with a magnificent set of pure hit fun that had them on their knees and eating out of his hand. The first night concluded with Dutch dj Sander Van Doorn showing us exactly why he was headlining the evening. All in all, a great first day and we’re looking forward to the two coming festival days.
