Pick A Piper – December 2016 Mix
Toronto-based electronic experimentalist and Caribou collaborator Pick A Piper (nee Brad Weber) will release his second collection of songs in the form of new album “Distance” (via Tin Angel) on March 3rd.
He has ventured pretty much everywhere from Chernobyl and Guatemala to the Canadian Arctic, northern mountains of Japan and south America since the first release as Pick A Piper and on the upcoming new album, he definitely lets that influence show. A bewitching slow-rave travelogue of sounds and stories picked up along the way, the album delivers an eclectic mix of old and new with everything from early synth pioneers to quirky 80s synth disco to Algerian funk to contemporary edits.
“It’s a great source of heartache, but also a great source of joy,” Weber explains of an album “about trying to balance connectivity with chronically being away.”
We can give you an exclusive glimpse of the sounds that forged the album with this premiere of his most recent mix.
