Goddammit! If Denver based producer, option4, gets any better, this blog is going to have to change its name to ‘optionDiscobelle’ because of all the posts we’ll have to do about this guy. His latest remix for Australian stronghold, Sweat It Out comes hotly on the heels of his blinding remix for Sammy Bananas and Fool’s Gold (peep that one HERE).

Here, he takes on Indian Summer and their latest single, “Shiner”, which features Ginger & The Ghost. Brooding and creepy vibes are twisted into an intriguing, melancholic house jammer. Ginger & The Ghost’s Fever Ray like vocals fit perfectly within option4’s unique production alongside skittering marimba riffs and menacing bass stabs.

Alfresco Disco, the deep house collective from Bristol and helmed by Futureboogie Recordings associate, Lukas, celebrates the positive vibes as summer comes to a close with their forthcoming compilation, “Maximum Joy”. Featuring a swath of new-comers such as Seka, Matt Dirt, J.Morrison and Summits, the collection of work here is impressive and varied. Heady cuts like ‘In Deep’ from Matt Dirt channels a vision of tribal drum circles in the Serengeti while J.Morrison takes us to the west side of Africa with his lovely use of The Black President on ‘Some Fella.’

Available October 20th, buy it HERE.

Last night, the world received a ‘Blood-Moon’, Lunar eclipse. At certain global positions, there was said to be a astrological phenomenon called ‘selenelion,’ an occurrence in which is is possible to see the sun rise in the east simultaneously as the moon sets in the west. A celestial event such as this could only be seen as a fitting analogy for this latest Fool’s Gold release in which we see such an assemblage of talent that one could only assume it was written in the stars.

I’m being cheeky over here, of course, but seriously; the players that came together on the latest single from Sammy Bananas is, well, ‘Bananas!’ Here we feature the remix chops of our man from the mile-high-city, option4, who twists the vintage house stomp of the original cut into a gee’d-out, melancholic banger. Equal parts light and dark, sun and moon, energetic power and gentile caress. Top stuff, Mr. option4. You’ve out-done yourself here!

Available now on Fool’s Gold. Buy HERE.

A few months back, Waze & Odyssey dropped their version as a free bootleg via their Facebook page. Since then, it’s been snatched up as an official release via RCA Records and paired with lovely remixes from Special Request and Le Youth, which we have here.

Where the W&O version fell flat for me, this re-chunk by Le Youth absolutely takes the cake with it’s Think breaks, M1 bassline and deceptive, chordal drops.

Out October 19th. Pre-Order here.

Future Disco Radio has been a favorite around the offices since it’s inception just a few months back. Their playlists and guest mixes are a point of weekly celebration for me personally and the installment from last week is no exception. Show host, DJ Anna Wall, had the enviable fortune to reside in Ibiza all summer, and as the season comes to a close, her portion of the show highlights all of the killer tunes that destroyed dance floors across the wee island. Heavy cuts from KANT, Ten Walls and Patrick Topping plus an hour long guest mix from Detroit Swindle… no disppointments here, even if it has been over 10 years since my last visit to the Balearic Islands, I’d like to think of this as a sort of consolation prize.

Newbody Records comes correct with it’s sophomore release and debut EP from Munich based producer, Baxley. The young artist showcases a refined style of house production across three cuts plus a dub remix from Chicago legend, Stacey Kidd. ‘The Scene EP’ proudly continues the pedigree of dusty sample divers, landing somewhere between the tastes of Moodymann and Mablib, these tracks are dirty-clean in all the right places.

Opener, ‘No More,’ relies heavily on a solid funk groove and subtle filter touches while titular track, ‘The Scene’ is hypnotic with it’s layers of chord stabs, subby bass and ‘mystical’ claps. ‘Suspect’ is the most straight ahead house joint of the bunch and it’s shuffling percussion and bubbling bass riffs sure to ignite a dance floor.
