“It’s the perfect blend of bands like SG Lewis and Disclosure, and rock bands like Doves or The Growlers. For me that Detroit sounding heavy bass and guitar blends really well with garage house. Crazy I know…The song is about being desperate and obsessed with someone you will never get and who you know is the opposite of good for you. Like all unhealthy habits, you falsely believe that this will be your saviour and get you out of your miseries. Like your state of mind when you´re alone with a couple of drinks inside you ‪at 3am, in a disturbed place or state of mind yet weirdly hopeful.”

On April 14th legendary Swiss electronic duo In Flagranti present their pre-internet-record-buying-phoneline-concept-album-come-mixtape “Sprezzatura” which will be released via Codek Records.

“Back in the early 80s when I lived in Switzerland, I use to travel to Italy a lot for clubs and record shopping. In Rimini there was a great store called Disco Piu. They had this service where if you were out of town or from another country, you could sign-up and get a cassette of all the new releases in the post every week. Each new track was recorded for about a minute and there was a voice counting – so you could write down the tracks you liked – then phone or fax the track numbers and the date of the cassette, they’d send you the records and you’d pay on delivery, which was amazing”, says In Flagranti’s Sasa Crnobrnja on ‘Sprezzatura’s inspiration, concept and format. He further explains, “So this album will be available as a mix on cassette with each track playing for a minute or two. You’re basically listening to it like a mixtape and in the same manner as the tapes from Disco Piu. You’ll be able to choose your favourite tracks from ‘Sprezzatura’ and buy the full versions as downloads.”

We here at Discobelle can premiere the superb and hypnotic disco stomper “My Sordid Little Affair”.

Our friends in UK label Love & Other releases their first single of 2017 and it’s a smasher.

“Please Be True” (drops February 10th) sees legendary Glasgow based producer Martyn Henderson AKA Mash team up with prolific British icon Idris Elba (yeah, you probably heard of him) with a track weaving through whirring synths, percussive blips and a warm, heartfelt vocal offering from Idris Elba.

On remix duty, we got Sinden who’s been down with Discobelle since day one so we’re of course extremely glad to premieres this club ready remix from him, he casually flips the vibe of the original version with the help of a wonky, low slung bass and some seriuos bleep action together with a steady beat.

2016 was a pretty shitty year all around but alot of seriously amazing music was released during the course of these 12 months, here’s our 66 favorite tracks of 2016 all neatly packaged into a Spotify playlist.

The final release of 2016 on Heka Trax (the label spearheaded by Glasgow producer/dj Nightwave) comes in the form of the club smashing single “Heart.Beat” from Russian future bass maestro Pixelord backed with remixes from up and coming London based producer Otik and Texan Freshtill Def.

Heka Trax kindly asked if we wanted to premiere a track and the remix by Otik hits all the right feels with a bassed out, tweaked off kilter sound which draws inspiration from UK garage and grime.

Thursday night is quickly approaching us, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be trying to put together a strong playlist to get the party started. I’d like to put forth the newest by Black Saint, called “Could You Love Me” for your music consideration.

Black Saint are an UK-based group that have been getting the attention of big league DJs like Toddla T recently, and this new track shows exactly why they’ve been getting serious credit lately. The original version has amassed over 1.2 million plays, and this one will undoubtably be played just as many times.

Check out the track below.
