Slick Shoota is the moniker of Oslo based Marius Mevold who is an offical member of Teklife and prominent member of the nightlife scene in Oslo with his hyped club night Ball Em Up, he’s been putting out energetic and fast paced club hybrid music for alot of big labels most notably his releases on Mad Decent drawing inspiration from the juke/footwork scene, jungle etc.

This 37 minute long exclusive mixtape for us here at Discobelle packs a perfect punch to wake you up from this mid-January boredom starting out in chopped up baile funk territory before chopping up something alot more recognizable then quickly gathering speed and turning into one helluva ride.

Friday and we got an exclusive mix to tide you over until it’s time to get back to the office/factory floor/lecture hall or wherever you’re headed on monday morning.

Dante Sanders AKA DJ Taye might be the youngest member of the Chicago crew Teklife but don’t let his age fool you, he’s been producing and dj’ing since before his teens and should be considered one of the most exciting producers in the younger generation of footwork.

His exclusive mix for us at Discobelle consists the best coming from the footwork scene and includes a bunch of exclusives from his upcoming release on Hyperdub, this mix is filled to the brink with pumping bass, synths shining like diamonds and hooks that immediately sinks into your brain making this one seamless party packaged into a 50 minute long mix.

DJ Rashad was and still is a legend. Not only was he a Footwork and Juke pioneer but also one of the hardest working DJs and producers I’ve ever met. The dude really never stopped working. He was either globetrotting and spreading the sound of Chicago around the world or in the lab pushing himself to expand his sound further and further. In April 2014 the world lost one of the most inspiring and talented artists of our time. His spirit moves through Teklife, the dancers, his friends and everyone he has touched or influenced.

Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with Rashad and even be remixed by him. The tracks were never completely finished and seemed impossible to finish after he passed. Eventually I mustered up enough courage to open the sessions and finish them. It is what Rashad would have wanted me to do.

“Movin’ Forward” is a collection of those collaborations plus two exclusive unreleased Machinedrum tracks that were heavily inspired by Rashad and the Teklife crew. I called it “Movin’ Forward” because I know Rashad wants everyone he touched to keep pushing themselves and follow in his footsteps on the path he had been creating all these years. I’m proud to have known him, shared the stage with him and to have collaborated with him. May his sound and spirit continue to inspire and spread through everyones speakers! Teklife to tha next life!!

R.I.P. DJ RASHAD”
