Mixin’ it up: DJ Drastik

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

We got a DMC champion doing Mixin’ it up this time (2004 DMC Canadian Supremacy Champion, 2004 DMC World Supremacy Semi Finalist, 2005 DMC Canadian Champion and 2006 DMC Canadian Team Champions (with The Stylusts). DJ Drastik is the founding member of The Stylusts Crew based out of Ottawa/Toronto Canada. Let’s get to it. We present DJ Drastik.

“This mix is one of the first i’ve done that hasn’t been straight Hip Hop, R n B or Dirty South. I wanted to do something different on this one and just show my love for different styles of music. It goes from being pretty dark to having a party feel, all the while keeping the flow. That’s what i was initially looking for, and i’m pretty happy with the outcome.

Here’s the play by play. Enjoy!

1. Air - Another Day

Air is a group that i’ve been feeling for a while now. They have a really
dark, yet mellow sound and this track definately reflects that. By far one of my fav’s from Air and i think, a good way to set off the mix. I added a little intro and some cuts as well.

2. Keisha Cole - Should have Cheated (B.Cause edit)

This is a B.Cause edit and i must say, one of my favorite remixes as of
late. The classic “Watermelon Man” by Herbie Hancock is flipped and
transformed into an eerie, double time, R n B banger! Straight goods!

3. Kano - Signs in my life/ Luda- Roll Out (Drastik Blend)

This is one of my own blends. Grime and Dirty South just go hand in hand in my opinion and both these joints just flow really nice together.

4. Radiohead - Street Spirit/ Jay-Z - Jigga What Jigga Who (Drastik Blend)

i’m a huge Radiohead fan. How can you not be?! When The Bends first came out i kinda slept. But after hearing “Street Spirit”, among other amazing songs on the album, i quickly woke up hahaha! I’ve been wanting to do something with this one for a while and decided to blend it with this super spaced out Timbaland classic, I think it they work well together.

5. Cassie ft. Scorcher - Me n U (Brains Remix)

This is a remix of Cassie’s “Me n U” feat Scorcher from the UK. The joint was produced/remixed by Brains. He gives “Me n U” a completely different feel from the original by screwing it up and giving it some bounce. Definately hype!

6. Young Dro - Shoulder Lean (Starkey Fractured Elbow Mix)

Got this one courtesy of Call Me Mickey. Don’t know too much about Starkey other than he killed it with this one! It’s got that grime feel to it and like i said before, grime and dirty south just go together so well! There’s alot of “Shoulder Lean” remixes out there, but this one stands out for me.

7. Stanton Warriors Ft. The Beatnuts - Shake It Up

I first heard this tune via Mark Ronson on EVR and have been hooked eversince! Stanton Warriors always make great tunes and this synthy, uptempo joint is definately one of them. Hearing the Beatnuts on something like this is extremely refreshing too. Certified dancefloor mayhem in my opinion! I added some scratches in between the chorus’ for some extra flavor.

8. Vyle - Strobemouth (Drop The Lime Remix)

Vyle is seriously one talented cat. Im really enjoying his style alot
lately. This is a remix done by Drop The Lime. DTL is also another one of my favorites at the moment. His production skills are top notch and this remix is proof. Everytime i listen to this one i hear something new in it. Love joints like that!

9. Phono.o Ft. TinTin - Pimpin TinTin

This one is off the chain. I just love everything about it. Tintin’s flow,
the chops in the lyrics, rough bassline, the bongo’s…it’s all gravy!

10. Space Cowboy - Egyptian Lover (Loose Cannons Remix)

The original joint is just so insanely addictive, but so is this remix done
by Loose Cannons. At first, i planned to put the original on here, but
after hearing the way Loose Cannons flipped it, it was only right to put their remix instead.

11. Chemical Brothers - Galvanize (Switch remix)

An already dope joint made even more dope. Everyone loves Switch and totally within reason. Dude has been killing it for years, wether it’s Solid Groove, A. Brucker, Count of Monte Cristal, Dave Taylor, whoever or whatever he’s rolling as, it’s always bonkers! This
one just sounds so obnoctious and “In your face” to me i almost laugh when i hear it. Just riduclous!

12. Debonair Samir - Samir’s Theme/ Missy - We Run This (Duke Durmont Remix) (Drastik Blend)

Samir’s Theme has been a favorite for many, myself included. I decided to blend it with the acapella to Duke Durmont’s remix of Missy’s “We Run This”. Both had the same flow and i think it worked out pretty nice.

13. Pase Rock - Lindsay lohan’s Revenge

Pase Rock is that dude! This track is seriously priceless! I love the fact
that people are up in the club getting buck to a song about Lindsay Lohan’s busted snatch! It’s just brillant!

14. Spankrock - Far Left (U-Tern Electro-Boogie Remix)

Not too much i can say about Spankrock that hasn’t already been said.
Straight party crack! And again, so many Spankrock remixes out there, but one stands out. U-tern (Vancity stand up!) killed it with this one, hot damn! Got that 80’s electro, b-boy feel and shit…this one bangs heavy

15. Kid Sister - Let Me Bang (Drastik Blend)

Kid Sister is straight killing it right now! I’ve been loving all the heat
from her lately…I decided to blend her joint “Let Me Bang” with Memphis Bleek’s “Is That Your Bitch?” and Ciara’s “Oh” to add some bounce to it.

16. Steed Lord - You (Killer Klever Remix)

I met Klever about 6 years ago in San Francisco at the ITF Finals. He was always a huge inspiration for me on the battle tip and now he’s doing the same with his remixes and mixtapes! This remix of Steed Lord’s “You” has that hot electro feel with a splash of some dirty dirty! I cut to the break at the end and put Trick Daddy’s “Shut up” over top. It just sounded really hype over that part, i had to throw it in there!

17. The Killers - Somebody Told Me / 8 Ball & MJG - Ridin’ High (Drastik Blend)

Gonna to have to make a proper remix, but for now i think it works lovely. Both songs have such intense melodies and really compliment each other well.

18. Three Six Mafia - Pussy Got You Hooked / Rick Ross Hustlin (Drastik Blend)

I try to listen to this at least once a day! The violins in this banger are
just off the chain and so inspirational! This beat always get me going!

19. Mike Jones Ft. Slim Thug - Still Tippin’ (Crate Savers Remix)

I like joints that when remixed have a completely different feel to them. I felt like bouncing or fighting someone to the original one, but this one just makes me wanna smile and dance! I don’t have a great sounding copy of this, but it has such a good feeling to it i had to put it on there!

20. DJ Ayres - Show Em / Roula - Lick it (Drastik Blend)

Ayre’s just completely murders it with this one flipping the new Jay single into a serious Bmore anthem! His work with those horns is absolutely ridiculous! I decided to cut it up a bit and ad Roula’s “Lick It” over top. I like how it works with the horns.

21. DJ Ayres - La Da Dee / Dazz Band - Let It Whip (Drastik Blend)

Another blend of mine over an Ayres remix. Ayres flipped the Crystal Waters’ house classic “Gypsy Woman” (which of course is the original to T.I’s “Why You Wanna”) into another Bmore dancefloor monster! I added the Dazz Band’s funky classic, “Let It Whip” over top, as well as a Rick Ross sample which tied in with the Dazz Band joint. I originally wanted to blend something with the Crystal Waters track, but this just worked so well over Ayres’ remix that i had to do it.

22. Scottie B & King Tutt - African Chant / Christina Aguilera - Aint No Other Man (Drastik Blend)

I never really planned on putting so many blends over Baltimore joints, it just sorta happened. Never less, i think they all worked, including this one i did with Scoitie B & King Tutt’s “African chant” and Christina Aguilera’s “Aint No Other Man”. I think both flow nice together.

23. DJ Mehdi ft. Fafi - Lucky Boy / The Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. (Drastik Blend)

I’ve been loving the whole Ed Banger catalog lately and i realized towards the end of the mix that i hadn’t put any of it on! That being said, i decided to wind down with Dj Medhi’s eerie joint “Lucky Boy” and shake it up a little with The Gorillaz “Feel Good Inc” over it.

So there you have it! It’s not something i really planned in great detail. I just started it and went with the flow, which in my opinion, is always a great formula. I think the best sounding shit often happens at random and by accident, and that doing things on the fly with little planning can often yield good results.

Thanks for listening!

Mixin’ it up: Motion 44

Friday, December 15th, 2006

Our friends in Motion 44 does this part of the Mixin’ it up series. Give it up for Motion 44:

“As Motion 44 we have made music for the dancefloors during the last two years. (to check some old remixes, including our mixes of Daft Punk, Robyn and Le Sport visit myspace.com/motion44)

But we felt that sitting at home and making music was not enough. We wanted to head out on the roads to share our sidechainbass vision with other people. So we recruited Eric Schüldt, the man who used to run Kilotin, our favourite club of all time, and one of our favourite dj’s, to the group to help us. This mix for the mighty Discobelle is a taste of our combined vision. Or just a partymix for the weekend.

The songs on the music to music mixtape:

1. Intro

Our vision:
Turn back to the roots. Go down into the underground. Into the deep. Back to the days when house was house, garage was garage and deep was really deep. To turn back to Stefan Thungrens deep sunken soulful Atlantis.

That is what we aim to do - but - exactly the opposite.

This is music to music.

2. Ben Delay - Clubmusic is dead

You listen to Hipstertechno and Oddsterelectro. You say that clubmusic is dead. It’s not. You listen to Minimal and say that music is too hard these days. It’s not. It’s only stronger than ever before. Ben Delay, in his lovely german accent, put words to our thougts to kickstart this mixtape.

3. Motion 44 feat. Calle Dernulf - Stol nr. 17

Just like the Triple Threat match at Wrestlemania XX between Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels and Triple H was an instant classic - so is this. We took a quote from the permanent secretary of the Swedish academy, Horace Engdahl and let Swedens Pete Tong, the nicest man on Swedish radio, Calle Dernulf, read it. Then we put some Motion 44 beats underneath it all.

4. Michael Jackson - Thriller (Bud Peterson remix)

Our Myspace friend Bud Peterson takes Michaels original and jesusjuices it up with that ravey bass that we like so much.

5. Ferry Corsten - Are you ready

Our beloved Ferry. Don´t listen to DJ-Mag who say that there are greater dj:s than you on this planet. People fund secret societys in your name, and people like us cries to your songs. People may turn their backs on clubs who play your songs, like people went mad when Eric played your songs at Kilotin. But Ferry, our beloved Ferry, you will always be the greatest in our eyes.

6. Jaques Bauer - Abandon ship

Is this a tribute to the hardest working agent in TV history (Jack Bauer in 24) or is this just one of the most banging electrohouse tracks of the season?

7.Voodoo and Serano feat Zoe C. - Vulnerable (V and S vs. Choo Blahnik mix)

We could defend ourselves with intricate analyzes of class and music, or analyze the very essence of life. But it´s not necessary, because in a really large trancebreakdown you’ll find the answer to all of this.

8. Paolo Mojo – 1983 (Eric Prydz remix) / The Streets – “Turn the page / Alan Parsons Project – Mammagamma / Michael Sembello – Automatic man

A real Ableton-smorgasboard. The recipe:

1. Include everything you like, In the end it´s all gonna be mixed in your belly.
2. What you need is a well cooked bassline to keep it all together. And basslines don´t come any better than out of the machines of Swedens finest, Eric Prydz.

9. DJ Delicious – Let it drop (Henrik B remix)

It´s tunes like this the term Megahouse was made for! Adeline, play this in your club Housewives and we’ll be there, (even if you don´t play it, we’ll be there). A big hit of 2006 and with all the Christmas and new years parties coming up we needed some tunes here that summarizes the year.

10. Darude – Music

As the title of the mixtape says: From music to music. A tune that sums up this mixtape very well. First some cheesy synths until the mad bass hits you like Hulk Hogans legdrop. Then you know it´s all over….1-2-3.

Enjoy!”

Mixin’ it up: Certified Bananas

Friday, December 8th, 2006

CERTIFIED_2.jpg

It’s Friday and time for a mix we’ve been looking forward to since last year. It turned out to be well worth the wait. Certified Bananas - let’s go:

“This mix is over a year in the making, or at least a year since Discobelle sent us that email asking us to contribute to their mix series! Well, we finally got enough time to do it, and figured we would make it special. Although the sounds on this mix may be a bit unusual for this site, their heritage certainly is not. We figured we should big up the country of Sweden for a site that consistently big ups the hottest shit on the rest of the planet. So here it is, a Sweden-centric Discobelle mix, Certified Bananas Style. Props to Nick the Dude from Cobra Kai on the image-freak.

Neneh Cherry: “Outre Risque Locomotive”
The singer best known for “Buffalo Stance” lays it down on this album cut from her debut Raw Like Sushi.

The Knife
: “We Share Our Mother’s Health” w/ Kelis’s “Blindfold Me”
The Knife are killing it right now, although I think this song is the real standout from the new album.

The Soundtrack Of Our Lives: “Independent Luxury”
These guys are just a seriously solid rock band always bringing the interesting production.

Jens Lekman: “Maple Leaves (7″ version)” w/ “Zingy (inst)”
I don’t know what to say about this dude, who I need to see perform live. This guy is the father, son and the holy ghost of that lo-fi indie pop.

Timbuktu: “Sömnlös I Skåne”
Timbuktu is one of Sweden’s growing crop of MCs. I have to say that this guy demonstrates that the Swedish language lends itself remarkably well to rapping, although it does sound a bit like backwards english at times (in the BEST way possible). If anyone can send me the translation to this I would much appreciate it.

Leila K: “Got to Get”
As I understand it, this was the first homegrown rap song to make the charts in Sweden. What this song lacks in rhyth-a-matic timing it has in heart. Stockholm by way of Minneapolis.

Robyn: “Crash and Burn Girl” w/ Nelly Furtado’s “Promiscuous”
This is our diss record to Girl Talk.

Nelly Furtado: “Promiscuous (Axwell Remix)”
Axwell is part of the infamous Swedish House Mafia and I’m still trying to figure out why I haven’t heard more djs drop this jam.

Abba: “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!”
Most know this song as the source material for Madonna’s “Hung Up” but the original shows that these guys weren’t all bad.

Dungen: “Jamna Plagor” w/ Christina Aguilera’s “Aint no Other Man.”
I remember Max and I trying to listen to the Dungen album off one of those ipod radio transmitters while driving across canada in summer 05, and not getting it at all. It took a serious headphone listen for me to get what this band is all about. The blend brings out a darker side of Xstina.

The Cardigans: “Your New Cuckoo” w/ Pase’s verse from “Funky” by Five Deez
Yo, all I got to say is that we couldn’t put “Love Fool” on here because it makes me too emotional. This is the opening track from the same Cardigans album, and my man Pase rips it on the intro.

The Concretes: “Chosen One” w/ Amanda Blank’s verse from “Bump” by Spankrock
This band’s 2004 eponymous album, the one with the cover that looks like a Target ad (their music was later featured in Target ads… coincidence?) was one of my favorite album’s of that year. In Colour just doesn’t stand up, but this song is amazing, not to mention that Amanda (who is rad in real life too) slays it!

The Hives
: “Hate To Say I Told You So”
It really is just fine that these guys have every inch of their apartments wallpapered with shirtless pictures of Iggy Pop.

Lo-Fi-Fnk: “Louder”
Found out about this band since our friend Jason (My!Gay!Husband!) in Vancouver is booking their North American tour. These guys are electro-pop with the best aspects of both worlds.

Jose Gonzalez: “Heartbeats” w/ The Roots’ “In The Music”
SERIOUSLY don’t front. I don’t care what anyone says. Maybe its that I went to San Francisco a lot this year, maybe its because Max and I watched that Sony ad with the bouncing balls like 100 times, maybe its because deep deep down I’m a cornball (what up Ricky Powell, I’m ruining your city), but I think Jose’s version is better than the Knife’s. And with ?uestlove on the beat…Game Over.”

Mixin’ it up: LLCOOLDJ

Friday, November 10th, 2006

This time we go to San Francisco for the latest installment of the mix series. Why not let LLCOOLDJ do the talking?

“yo heres the mix. i suppose we can call it the electro-blap rap show.
various electronic beats laced with violent rap music from the bay
area and beyond.

spac hand luke - dynocock / 50 cent - just a lil bit (ll cold beer mix)
-threw this one together just for yall. this is luke vibert as ’spac
hand luke.’ supposedly its his dubstep/grime moniker.. there are some
decent tracks on there… and then right at the end you’ve got this
monster.

dj shadow feat the federation & animaniacs - turf dancing
-the federation always manage to swoop up the hardest beats, and this
one is definitely no exception.. pow!

j dilla - stepson of the clapper / notorious b.i.g. - dying to live
(ll dead heroes mix)
-one of my 25 favorite cuts from donuts… the biggie accapella comes
from a pretty weak original track, but now we’ve got it teamed up with
dilla so there you go. this is also my official ‘test acapella’ to
drop over new beats just to make sure they knock right.

j.rocc - dirty fingered b-boy edit
-this track appears for just a quick second there.. dont miss it!

clipse - where you been
-seriously. when can i can get the bad words version.

dabrye - smoking the edge
-good one to mix with your gangster rap to keep things electonic.

mistah fab - super sic wid it
-E-40’s verse on this track is the best part… fucking hilarious but
was cut for time purposes. bummer.

motion man - dat ass
-motion is of my favorite rappers of all time. i agree with the
subject matter on this track.

vyle - lane transfer
-all im sayin is look out for this guy Vile… his shit is on point!

dwight trible - waves infinite harmony
-dwight trible is a jazz vocalist from LA… and word on the streets
is that madlib, daedelus, and carlos niño all have something to do
with this track. you only get a taste of it here, but i suggest to go
find the whole thing.

tell backyard betty when to go (ll obvious mix)
-you know them both so well. i made this mix up in my head in line at amoeba.

traxxamillion feat. too short & mistah fab - sideshow
-the sideshow they wanna shut us down!

kraftwerk - trans-europe expess/busta - light yo ass on fire/mobb deep
- got it twisted (ll garage sale mix)
-every year on tiffany street the whole block has a garage sale on the
same weekend. thats where the kraftwerk record came from… busta is
also rumored to get down with the garage sales from time to time.

frontline - take that

-these bay area people go nuts over this shit. i like it a lot too so
everyones happy.

miss elliot - pass that dutch
-couple months back i was skateboarding home holding a crate of
records. i hit a piece of wood on the sidewalk and suddenly the crate
is no longer in my hands.. all i remember is this missy record doing
the dummy retarded down the sidewalk with no sleeve. hey it still
works tho.

busy p - chop suey
-ed banger captain drops the heat! i like to play it much slower than
it is supposed to be played at for some reason.

federation - 18 dummy
-and again! you all know this track too. oops edited version!

sebastian - H.A.J.
-holy smokes! this one is also playing way slow but listen to that bass homie.

cex - just don’t bite it
-from that tigerbeat6 record wit all the NWA remixes. definitely
something you can not get away with playing at the club.

hope yall enjoy this shit.. give a holler or leave me nasty comments
at myspace.com/llcooldj and also check out what a good friend and I
like to call LAZER SWORD —> myspace.com/lazersword.”

Mixin’ it up: NuSole

Friday, October 13th, 2006

nusole.jpg

Mixin’ it up is back! NuSole have been serving us good mixes for a while, so it was about time that they made us an exclusive. A bit different, but I think you’ll like it. As it’s Friday we’ve got a bonus mix for you as well - but we’ll post that later on today.

Take it away NuSole!

1. The Alan Parson Project - I Robot
Great intro and a good song. Just gotta love when the drums kick in kinda backbeat.

2. Alphaville - Big in Japan (instrumental extended version)
Who doesn´t wanna be big in japan? Found this record on a roadtrip in northern Sweden…

3. Michael McDonald - Love Lies
One of the greatest. Love Lies. True that.

4. Prins Thomas - Is it big enough
Another great tune from Norway. Thomas got a reserverd table and a bottle of Champagne in our recordbag.

5. Tangerine Dream - Choronzon
Wonderful tune. Like a soundtrack to a just reciveing your latest Ebay order.

6. Ian Dury - Spasticus (Autisticus)
The two NuSole guys, the good & the evil twin, are both fuckin’ Spasticus Autisiticus. Live to work, Work to live, is some kind of mantra…we discuss whether we are truly retarded every single day…

7. Mauro Scocco - Sarah (NuSole RMX)
Time to catch up on the interlude…This is our own version of a song from our childhood. Good and bad memories.

8. Studio R - Clapz (Trickski ReMix)
We love those trickski-guys! Every new Trickski song or remix has got a new sound and it´s allways in a class of their own.

9. Phil Collins - Sussudio (12″ Mix)
12″-mix. A wonderful thing. Like taking the favourite thing out of a dinner & eat shitloads of just that one thing…

10. Kenny Loggins - I Gotta Try
Wait. Just wait. Soon you will understand.

11. Clausell – Don´t let it be crack (long version)
Crack is back. Trust Aaron.

12. E40 - U & Dat (Aaron LaCrate Mix)
Good song in a great version. ”zippin zippin, walk up in the club with a limpin´”. Honestly I relly can´t see what´s so cool with walking like you have some male genitalies up your ass?

13. Fibes Oh Fibes! - Get Up! (NuSole RMX)
New NuSole remix of the best taxi-driver band ever.

14. Alexander Robotnik - La Folie
I don’t know. Guess we wanted a track with a french guy talking shit over a beat. Makes your mixtape more special. It’s like having a midget in your crew. It’s retarded, but it tells everyone around you. “I do not care about anything but the inside. It’s like in 8:th grade when you starts picking on the geeky girl in your class because she has glasses, and realizes that she’s actually humpable. It’s like that with Alexander Robotnik.

15. MusicMusicMusic - September (NuSole Edit)
Because Jazz is a Spirit & an attitude towards music, not a sound. We get pissed of when a kid with a Sequencer & a BlueNote record samples a saxophone & calls it jazz. Fuck all that…
Amazing version of classic tune September by our boys MusicMusicMusic. Sorry Fabbe for cutting your amazing solo.

Mixin’ it up: dev79

Friday, October 6th, 2006

Friday and it’s time for yet another Mixin’ it up. Last week the mix came from Philly and guess what? This weeks mix is also from Philly. Why don’t we let dev79 do the talking:

“so for the last month i been homeless…for the last 2 months my computer has been way fucked up…somehow i still managed to come thru with this mix for the faithful discobelle.net readers. i got my computer fixed the other day and i’ll be gettin a new apartment in a couple days so everything is turnin out just peachy!

haha. but anyway i’ve nicknamed this mix the ‘homeless brokedown jawn.’ dig in.

1. dev79 - fnk flr riddim

this is an electro-grime sorta beat i did a lil while back…thought
it’d make a decent intro.

2. lily allen - smile (gutter mix)

since i heard this track a month or so ago its been my fave tune out.
its so raw n nasty and yet dancey and sing songy. aaron lacrate and debonair samir have been rockin some hot shit lately, their recent e40 rmx is on point as well.

3. salt n pepa - push it (speed garage mix)

i’ve had this track for a while…i have no idea who did the remix, but it’s banging…my secret dancefloor weapon. haha.

4. kelis - bossy (switch remix)

switch is killin shit lately…

5. justice - water of nazareth

nasty. can’t wait for their full lenght to drop. a lot of them french cats are pretty damn hot right now.

6. rick ross - hustlin (sinden remix)

more remix madness.

7. drop the lime - ridin dirty vip

nice cut up of chamillionaire’s club banger. dtl been keepin it movin lately, bringin lots of edgey dance tracks to the plate.

8. what nigga what

i dont’t really know much about this bmore club track, but this song def has a good energy n attitude to it. me like.

9. dev79 - in ya face

“if i let u bend me over by the waist, will u let me put my ass in ya face?” why yes, miss ebony eyez, i will.

10. dirty danger - banger

ruff squad is def one of my fave grime crews outta london and dirty danger is reppin hard with this crunchy track which describes itself with the title.

11. triple threat - tha breakthrough

aftershock’s triple threat has been gettin better n better lately, and this track flexes some nice spittin.

12. starkey - revoice riddim

philly hometeam stand up. this is a slit jockey riddim starkey made last year that we haven’t done anything with yet so i figured i’d work in the dubplate for some fresh flavor.

13. l.a.s. - vibes

without a doubt this is the best dubstep song that not a lot of peeps know about.
i have no clue why this song isn’t huge in that scene….but i fuckin rinse it all the time and the bass kills me.

Mixin’ it up: Steven Bloodbath

Friday, September 29th, 2006

In our latest installment of the mix series, we proudly present the best thing to come out of Philadelphia since the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich: Steven Bloodbath! Now onto the action:

“Ok… So Here it is…. “Cash, Cars, Clothes” my little mix for Discobelle.net….

Had a lot of fun with this… It’s a little bleep-y but whatevs… I am CONSTANTLY taking Acieeed and melting time into color.

1. INTR0:
The One and Only Nuge from Double Live Gonzo… I Saw Ted Nugent Like 2 years ago It was soul shattering…Every +40 racist asshole from Delaware crammed into The Trocadero… His Stage set included M-60 machine guns and that weird Army netting that was like EVERYWHERE in M.A.S.H. so cool… He Closed His Set with “Stranglehold” and while the rhythm section was still playing he grabbed an all white M-16, and an All white Compound Bow…. Held them over his head like a well armed Rocky and proclaimed to the crowd: “This is MY America…. and Let them TRY and Take it….” (UPROARIOUS APPLAUSE) get into it.

2. Soulwax “Krack”

I Also Took elements of “renegades of Funk” and Some AV8 Acapella to make it the littlest bit “urban”. The night I finished this mix Dave P ( a mensh) Brought Soulwax to Philly and I got to hear them play this… It was Totally…

3. Big Daddy Kane “Warm It Up Kane”
This is a Hip Hop Song I like…. hip Hop was a kind of party music that sampled really good music from the Seventies and had talented MC’s “rapping” over it….. It’s a early predecessor to “snap” music.

4. The Rapture “Get Myself Into It”
I feel like people are hating on the Rapture these days… This song is great…

5. The Jets “Crush On You”
Amazing pop song for my $$$$$ Plus I shamelessly used it to bridge into…

6. Alan Braxe & Fred Falke “Intro”
I fucking live for this song…. I had this record in like 2000…2001 maybe… It’s great I can play this again.. Those dudes are super talented (see that “Bossy” remix) and this track shows their longevity… 6 years of future-disco sensuality.

7. Fedde Le Grande “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit”
Ho my Gawd… This Song is so little while being Sooo Big….. I Can’t get enough. I’m moving to Amsterdam to become a Techno DJ…… (What’s up with your couch Robin?)

8. Modeselektor “Kill Bill Vol 4.”
These guys are great too… They got such a range. There’s one song they did either with TTC or sampling them that is crazy as well…

Note: At This point in the mix I am Running around my room with Lazer Numchucks inventing 3 new dances and a fighting style…..and a dance that incorporates that fighting style….

9. Dangerous Dan Vs. Nicky Van She “Around The World in 5:07″ / Rick Ross “Hustlin”
My favorite is when I do this out people come up to me and are like ….Did you Make that??? to wit i respond “Yes… Just Now…. With 2 Records…. It’s called Djing, Look it up on Wikipedia”.

10. Simian Moblie Disco “Tits and Acid”
NOTE FROM RANDOM GIRL IN STEVEN BLOODBATHS HOUSE: “Steven is in a serious K Hole right now, and can offer nothing interesting about this amazing RAVE GEM”.

11. Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Cheated Hearts (Steven Bloodbath Remix)
I made this remix using only sounds from my mouth and by contact mikeing animals of varying sizes.

12. Myrmidons “Clap (See The Stars)
Honestly My FAVORITE new song right now… It’s Like Kim Deal Making a Dance Song with Phil Spector and A 909. I Sweat these guys ….. Tough.”

mixxx-1.jpg

Next up in our mix series, from Sweden, 1 Lowe! Enjoy!

“1 Lowe from Revolooser fame, brings one hot ass mixxx, yeah that’s triple for ya ass!

You Must Learn – BDP
One of my favorite KRS ONE tracks, the beat is so sweet!

LECIRQUE – DJ Mehdi
This dude is probably huge in France, he makes really nice beats + he knows Vince from La Haine. Biggie drops in for a verse! Nasty! Yo!

Unfinished Symphaty – Massive Attack
This is just a classic track, One of the best videos too. They did some nice videos in the 90’s! I like big tunes!

Why Wouldn’t I – Beanie Sigel
New Benny Fiskmås track, after he got shot! Nice with a kinda fast ol school vibe. More hip hop songs should have this tempo nowadays…

Set It Off – Strafe
Hut one, hut two! This song is going to get played if you’re at a club when Kool DJ Dust is playin, he’s nice on the ones and twoooos!

I Am Somebody (Paris Version) - DJ Mehdi Ft. Chromeo
French dude again! Featuring those guys with needy girlfriends.

Car Man – Vybz Kartel
Lu Lu Lu – Busy Signal

Two kinda old dancehall tracks… I mean new dancehall tracks is droppin like every second but i really like these two! My friend Crasy Ivan is kinda funny when it comes to dancehall. He can´t listen to RnB, Rock, 80’s etc. but if a dancehall artist use RnB beats, or for an example 80’s samples its okay! Haha Busy Signal, Vybz Kartel and Assassin run this shit right now!

My Love – J.T. feat. T.I.
Atlantic Records, T.I. Clearance – Cousin Cole
I Really can’t stand JT but this beat is soooooo sick! Timbo is a genius! I Skipped alot of JT and started off with just T.I.s verse. I really like T.I. but i hate when rappers can’t rap live! Whats up with that?

Clear – Cybotron
Had to throw that in right there!

Ryda Girl – D.O.G feat. K Swift
My Ryyyyydaaaaaaaaaaa Girl! This is kinda, in one ear and out the other, exactly how i like it!

Ownsuply – Revolooser
This is a edit i did with Revolooser of a classic N.W.A song, Dopeman. Numbero uno! Don’t get high on your own suply!

Tell Me When To Go Remix – Catchdubs & DJ Ayres
Go Stupid, öhh Okay!

AFreak – aLOWEthing (Rough Edit)
This is straight rawness. Havin fun with the freakin you acapella, i think DJ Assault did something on this too, but this is something else…

Big Diamond Rings – Jon B
This is a interesting song from Norrlands producenten Jon B. I had the pleasure to see one of his gigs this summer and it was one of the best shows i have ever seen! Jon B Looks like a punkrocker? but plays the hardest techno/ghettotech/lovesongs! There’s no more BASS! Do you want more BASS!

Pushmeinternal – Revolooser
Another Revolooser track! This is a edit of Spank Rocks “Put that pussy on me” dub Style! This was born when Revolooser played live at the infamous “Svanö festivalen” it went really well with the scenery.

Put Ya Leg Up – Diamond K
Do it Do it! Put ya put ya Leg up… Like this?

La Da Dee – DJ Ayres
Ayres played in stockholm a while ago. My friend is a big Bootcamp fan, so he asked if maybe Ayres could play something from Sean price’s fantastic album “Monkey Bars”, but Ayres just looked at him and said “No one listens to that shit no more, that’s like ten years ago”

MysteryJetsRemix… – Tapedeck
Found this on myspace and i really liked it! What’s up with myspace anyway? That shit is outta control! In a good way…

Yo Relatives – DJ Assault
Gay Gay Gay Gay Gay Gay Gay… This is like bira, bira, bira music! VH soccer dudes would love this shit!

Googly Moogly – Project Pat
That thang is juicy! WTF? Ha ha Projekt Patrik is a googly moogly dude!

Push It – Rick Ross
I loved Hustlin! But I think Rick Ross got a little too hyped and I really didn’t feel some of the tracks I’ve heard from the album, definitively good, but not mind blowin, until this, I love it! Push it real good!

Wish I had the time to write some more but I gotta pay some bills!
