X-mas 13: Peter Bjorn And John

I have to admit one thing first. I don’t really like Peter, Bjorn and John but this tune makes me forget that. Every song on the 12″ makes me want to dance and this remix makes me want to get drunk and thats a good thing.

X-mas 12: Nas & Jay-Z

We so eagerly awaited the return of The King aka Jigga aka Shawn Carter and when the album dropped it was sort of lukewarm. On the other hand when this collabo track between the two NYC greats Nas and Jigga leaked, they showed us all what it’s really supposed to be like. This is hot, from the opening line “I know you can feel the magic, baby” accompanied by those strings, that marching beat and the cheering crowd way in the background, you just know that this is gonna be a stand out track. Both of them spit some sick lines and to connect back to the opening line, we sure can feel the magic.

Xmas 11: Bump (Switch Remix)

We had to have Spank Rock on the list some how, even if there was some dispute about which track to include. In the end we decided on a remix by a guy that has been mentioned many times here at Discobelle.net – Switch. But this isn´t about Switch. It’s about the guys and Amanda Blank, and their constant delivery of lyrics that are so filthy that they would be sold as pornography if they weren’t on a record. Invigorating.

(and in case anyone has missed it – the xmas posts are our yearly round up, so the tracks aren’t necessarily new)

X-mas 10: The Game

The Game hit us hard with his new album “Doctor’s advocate” which is a true contender for hip hop album of the year. On this remix of the track “One blood” he gathers half of the cats in the rap industry to spit some lines and extending the track into almost 12 minutes, all reasons enough for him to earn a spot on the Discobelle christmas calender.

Included on the track are: The Game feat. Jim Jones, Snoop Dogg, Nas, T.I., Fat Joe, Lil’ Wayne, N.O.R.E, Jadakiss, Styles, Fabolous, Juelz Santana, Rick Ross, Twista, Kurupt, Daz, WC, E-40, Bun B, Chamilionaire, Slim Thug, Young Dro, Pusha T and Malice of Clipse, and Ja Rule. Nuff said…

Xmas 9: Lo-Fi-Fnk vs Young Dro (RDS Remix)

Simply mixing two good tracks together to create a third may seem to be an easy way of creating music. This is not the case of course, and the amount mashups that suck should be evidence enough for anyone doubting that. The challenge is in finding two tracks that don´t really fit together, and then turn them into something new and interesting. And our Christmas calendar track of the day does just this.

Rawdeluxeshit is a Malmö based DJ collective that consistently have delivered freshness during 2006. Just the thought of laying Young Dro over Lo-Fi-Fnk is worth a mention, but as the track became a dance floor filler at Swedish clubs this year it definitely deserved to be on this list as well.

X-mas 8: Federation

The year of the Stunna Shades. It seems like most of the club nights this summer was about either getting people to put their Stunna Shades on or Ghostriding their Whip. Being Swedish, none of these to really worked out too well. But we learned to love hyphy anyway and thought it had to be represented on this yearly round up.

X-mas 7: DJ Web Star feat Young B

The dance of the year deserved a spot in our 2006 countdown. So let it rain and clear it out.

X-mas 6: MSTRKRFT

MSTRKRFT (the bastard offspring of the now defunct bass-and-drum duo Death From Above 1979, who remixes all the buzz bands) gave us one of the top electro bangers of 2006 with their track “Easy love” and that’s why they earned a place on our christmas calender. This track is an infectious and instant floor filler with it’s cowbell intro, a thumping yet poppy bass, synths to die for and those robotic vocoder vocals. We’ve dropped it oh so many times in our dj-sets and it’s always works like a charm, this will make you dance all the way until christmas.

X-mas 5: Hell Rell

We first heard this song on the Big Mike – This Is Why I’m Hot mixtape back in August. It became our anthem on our Myspace site and when we couldn’t find a DJ-free version of it anywhere, we decided to patch it together by using the version from DJ Teknikz And Ice-T – If U Buyin We Sellin Vol. 8. This is definitely the best song Hell Rell ever done and it’s still fire so we will keep it as our Myspace anthem for the rest of the year.

X-mas 4: Jibbs

A tune based on a kids song? Yeah that’s were it’s at! Atleast that was what Jibbs made us rock to this year. Then when you thought you were over it, the remix came out. Yung Joc, Lil’ Wayne and Lil’ Mont made a great track even greater. This song went over like crazy in the discobelle.net office. We even hired little children to walk from door to door here in Malmö singing:

“Do yo chain hang low
Do it wobble to the flo
Do it shine in the light
Is it platinum, Is it gold
Could you throw it ov’r ya shoulda
If you hot it make you cold
Do your chain hang low”

That’s Christmas for ya’ll!
