Xmas 2007, 13: T-Wrecks

Along with the Chi, those crazy canucks have been hitting hard this year. All over Canada, some really talented people have been churning out amazing tracks, so no year end list would be complete without our brethren up north. Maybe we like them so much because of the fact that they too suffer through long and cold winters, that the nature there resembles Sweden, that they glanced at our social system when establishing their own or maybe it’s just that they produce some mighty fine music. T-Wrecks from the amazing Stylusts crew (one of our favorite dj crews, they’ve produced three banging mixes for our Mixin’ It Up series) made this b-more remix of “Get It Shawty” which made us dance around the office for days on end and that’s the reason it’s on here.

Xmas 2007, 12: Kanye West – Stronger (A-Trak remix)

This isn’t the biggest surprise on the year end countdown. We had to have “Stronger” on here. The year when Kanye outsold 50 with a little help from his friend, the hipster. When another friend of his worked his magic, we all got what we needed. Hit play!

Xmas 2007, 11: Ravestradamus

Another ravey remix incorporating elements of juke & crunk with the classic Zombie Nation track “Kernkraft 400″. Who can resist this end of the night banger by our friends in Chicagos own Flosstradamus?

Xmas 2007, 10: Hollywood Holt – Caked Up

Hip hop from Chicago has been one of this years high points. Hollywood Holt’s “Caked up” have been rocking almost every dancefloor we have played since we got our hands on it. Chi Town stand up!

Xmas 2007, 9: Justice (ft. Uffie) – The Party (LA Riots remix)

Yes, it’s another Justice track on our year end list but this is too good to pass up. This remix by fresh production/dj duo LA Riots (they’ve made quite a splash this year) bangs hard and has been huge everywhere we played + the ladies loves it. Uffie provides us with her usual rapping (pretty much just urging us to get the party started) but it’s the LA Riots that brings us the icing on the cake and gets this going with some glitchy editing, stuttering vocals and a funky bassline, which shows that this remix was basically made with one purpose: to burn down dancefloors!

Xmas 2007, 8: Sinden – Haterzzz

We’ve could have pretty much chosen any of the monster tracks that Sinden released this year. He’s seriously been slaying the opposition (both on his own but also with Count Of Monte Cristal) with a constant output of dancefloor bombs, and the only ones that have even managed to put up a fight would be Crookers. On this track, albeit a bit on the cheesy side but it’s all in good fun (which is something we all need to have sometimes) and it sure gets the crowd going, Wes Fif gets the all out trance treatment and thus we have a Discobelle anthem.

Xmas 2007, 7: The Mitchell Brothers – Michael Jackson (Calvin Harris remix)

This never actually made the site for some reason. A mistake on our part – because this is both good and hilarious at the same time. And as I’m half English, it feels good to stick something on the list that’s from old Blighty as well.

Xmas 2007, 6: Kylie Minogue – 2 Hearts (Studio remix)

I’ve heard people bitch about how they always listened to Kylie and that we are all fakes for jumping on the bandwagon now. But I got news for you. It’s the other way around. You have started to adapt to my taste. Fuck you, I’m not losing my edge.

Kylie Minogue – 2 Hearts (Studio remix) (zShare)

Xmas 2007, 5: Adam Tensta – They Wanna Know

Day five of our end of the year countdown and we are staying in Sweden. Today we give our props to Adam Tensta. He has been served with wicked beats and he is backing that up with some of this years finest lyrics. If we weren’t afraid of being called rapist we would stand here nodding our heads but instead we are dancing like crazy in the office.

Xmas 2007, 4: Familjen – Det Snurrar I Min Skalle

It’s time for the first Swedish act on the year end countdown. Familjen got his million and unless he throw some of that money our way this is all the promotion we will give him. Damn good song anyway.

BONUS: Familjen – Det Snurrar I Min Skalle (Boeoes Kaelstigens Tri Tub remix) (zShare)

PS. Ah, what the hell. We might as well go all out with the promo. Vote for Familjen for the swedish Rockbjörnen awards over at the Vice Scandinavia petition.
