Xmas 2007, 3: The Dream – Shawty Is A Ten

If you talk R&B this year there has been only one. The Dream had two monster hits this year with “Umbrella” and “Bed”. And as if that wasn’t enough he came hard with his solo debut “Shawty Is A Ten”. But it was first when Mano got his hands on it and made the remix that we were sure that this was a tune for the X-mas countdown.

Xmas 2007, 2: Frankie Valli – Beggin’ (Pilooski Re-edit)

Another great track from a french dj/producer and another huge track this year. Parisian Pilooski has been spreading his high class re-edits of obscure disco and Motown/soul tracks with the help of the D*I*R*T*Y crew across the world. “Beggin” sees Pilooski take on a track from Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. “Beggin” is a simple yet highly effective disco/northern soul end of the night banger, a perfect feel good track blended to make the hipster clubcrowd of today throw their hands in the air and sing along.

X-mas 2007, 1: Justice – D.A.N.C.E

2007 is coming to a close, it’s been a huge year for us which we owe to all you faithful readers. We would like to thank you for showing us such great support.

Anyway, what better way to celebrate the upcoming holiday season than with the Discobelle christmas calender, which is where we round up our 24 top tunes of the year. Join us from today until the 24th (since that’s christmas eve for us Scandinavians) for a full run down of our selection of the hottest tracks this year.

First out we have the top french duo of 2007 – Justice – who might be the best thing to happen to French electronic music since Daft Punk with their hit track “D.A.N.C.E”. In the beginning of this year, the blogging community was buzzing with the rumour of a Justice gone disco track. Annie Mac premiered it on her radio show and people were going crazy. Then the track dropped and Justice was on the road to becoming a household name. Fast forward to today’s date, and the insanely addictive track has been remixed by pretty much everyone worth mentioning (among others we’re still feeling that Eli and Diplo remix) and has – in the indie sense of the word – become a hit. A children’s choir, catchy lyrics, and the duos twist on disco along with a pretty big Jackson 5 influence made this blow up.
