THE FINAL FANTASY by KORALLREVEN

Korallreven – Ra Ra Rave On

Swedish dreamlike balearic duo Korallreven steps it up a notch with a ravey mixtape done for UK magazine Self Titled.

“At the moment we are listening to lots of UK rave from the early ’90s. So we simply tried to blend some of our favorites from that glorious era together with some of our favorite stuff from this year, like Zomby and Elite Gymnastics, which pretty much feels the same, right? So I guess that you can call it melancholic rave, or something. All just to show where we might be heading next.”

Elite Gymnastics - So Close To Paradise 3 (Physical Therapy Remix) ARTWORK

So Close To Paradise 3 – Physical Therapy Remix

Following on the heels of an articulate meditation on Korean pop music, Elite Gymnastics offer up the Physical Therapy remix of “Ruin” on their forthcoming Acéphale Records EP. It’s big, dark, scary, and heavily incorporates a little of the “d word” as well as the “b word” (drum and bass) to make fans of dance, k-pop or experimental a little disoriented and flushed.

Korallreven – Honey Mine

Korallreven collaborated with vocalist Victoria Bergsman, and the result is the tremendous “Honey Mine” single which was just released on vinyl (with a Dan Lissvik remix on the B-side) by Acéphale Records. There will be a digital release coming up on which there’ll be remixes coming from Memoryhouse, Nacho Lovers and Korallreven themselves.

King Night

We have written about Salem numerous times here on Discobelle, especially due to their remarkable previous singles for Acephale. They are about to release their debut album “King Night” on IAMSOUND Records later this summer and in order for you to get ready for an album that will dominate the autumn/winter season here’s the creepy title track. Surfin

The Memory Cassette “Call And Response” debut 7″ was recently released by the good people over at Acephale in collaboration with Sweden’s finest Sincerely Yours, limited to 500 copies (some copies could be available at select stores). This remix of the track “Surfin” from Weird Tapes did of himself is a delicate and heavenly piece of bleepy, summery pop music and it’s part of the “Calls & Responses EP” (includes new remixes of Memory Cassette by Friend, CFCF, Sail A Whale and Shadow Self).

All the remixes are to be given away at high quality for free through blogs and will be available as a single download through the We’re Tapes blog shortly.

Salem – Brustreet

Patrick North (from SLU fame) hooked us up with this gem. SALEM will be the debut on his brand new label Acephale The record is due to be finished up in a few weeks and it’s pretty much already sold out. The sound is kind of hard to describe but here is Patricks attempt: “there is a huge gothy shoegaze thing going on but they also incoroporate elements of southern rap, juke and screw. Comparable bands are The Knife, Chromatics, Burial, Cocteau Twins etc etc.”

This is their interpretation of Bruce Springsteen’s “Streets of Philadelphia” – it’s entitled “Brustreet”. An eerie and hauntingly beautiful version.
