Two of the most popular indie artists in Sweden once again teams up, this time for a New Years dancefloor aimed, sing along anthem released by Malmö label Adrian Recordings – Emil Jensen and Familjen gives us “Nyår”. A yearning track described as being: “clad in a traditional New Year’s Eve party outfit, complete with tolling bells in a bittersweet electronic garb that works both on the dancefloor and in the dead of a winter night.”

The second Adrian Recordings Advent Sunday Mixtapes 2011 comes from Stockholm and the mighty Rigas. It’s hard to summarize all projects that Rigas AKA Henrik Von Euler is part of. Besides being one of the forces behind the excellent label Flora & Fauna he is part of acts like Parken and Sjöarna and many more. He is also part of creating the Skwee genre, with his alias Rigas den andra. But Rigas is and has always been his main focus. Rigas is the perfect blend of Prince and Bruce Springsteen if they were produced by Daft Punk. During 2011 Rigas released the outstanding album “Bring The Dead”. Don’t miss out.

In Rigas Adrian Recordings Advent Sunday Mixtapes he shows proofs of his eclectic and border breaking attitude. He starts of with screwing down Familjen and before the show is over he has managed to melt together Swedish kraut rock with German techno. How is that for a Sunday dish?

Adrian Recordings Advent Sunday Mixtapes 2011, 1st Advent – Artisan Loyalist

Christmas is a mere month away and it’s a time when traditions are the strongest, our friends in Malmö based label Adrian Recordings have a very nice tradition going where they get producers, bloggers, DJ’s or other skillful people that they like to mix together tracks that was released on the label during the year.

This is the 4th year in a row that they’re presenting the “Adrian Recordings Advent Sunday Mixtapes” and first one up to the bat this year is Edmonton based producer Artisan Loyalist with a pretty cover made by Martin Löfqvist (who among lots of other things is responsible for the artwork for Boeoes Kaelstigen).

“This is exactly what we hope for when we ask people to do our Adrian Recordings Advent Sunday Mixtapes. We send out tracks over the seas and back comes a different dimension. Artisan Loyalist is Rob Batke from Edmonton, Canada. Rob is also a member of the excellent band Faunts. Under his moniker Artisan Loyalist he makes beautiful instrumental electro pop with a hint of IDM. During the year we have heard him remixing MF/MB/’s track “The Window” that gained a lot of attention when it was released.

Adrian Recordings has always been about breaking borders of all kinds. This is an excellent example when everything just mixes up and when parts become larger together. Music travels from Sweden over to Canada and there Swedish singer songwriter Emil Jensen teams up, just next to German techno from Fex Fellini and the outcome is so simple and perfect.

It’s seldom that these mixtapes features some exclusive and new material. Here you find one new unreleased track from Edda Magnason and we’re also glad that Rob used the demo version of Emil Jensen’s “Lite väl John och Yoko”, added some extra drums and totally changed our view of the song.”

The latest single from Swedish krautdisco warriors This Is Head is called “De Trop” (the original version was released on a single by Adrian Recordings back in May). Now we get a sublime, slow chugging and almost balearic sounding 9 minute remix from Malmö turned Berliner dj/producer Johanna Knutsson, during the recent year she has risen from local to internationally renowned with the aid of a neverending line of amazing dj-sets, remixes, edits and her other work over at Berlin techhouse label Klasse Recordings.

“It’s Saturday night and you go to bed at 23:00. You set your alarm clock on 05:00. You go up and have a couple of beers for breakfast and then you’re ready for the floor. You arrive at Berghain, Panorama bar, Berlin at 06:00 and most likely you will find Johanna Knutsson at the DJ booth, maybe she even has her whole label with her and what you have stumbled upon is a Klasse Recordings label party. Johanna is the latest star on the more mellow techno scene of Berlin. The scene that peaks at 07:00 when the party re-starts.”

Remember back in the day when you were strutting your stuff to punkfunk? Well, Swedish kraut/techno weirdos in MF/MB/ does and they polished up the track “Jamie, My Intentions Are Bass” originally done by !!! (Chk Chk Chk), think less funk and more drive.

MF/MB/s debut album “Folded” is just out on Adrian Recordings and on July 12th they’ll release a remix collection called “Altered”.

Malmö krautdisco outfit This Is Head recently took home “pop of the year” award from Swedish National Radio, beating nominees such as Robyn and Radio Dept. They managed to find in their busy spring/summer tour schedule to head down to the studio to record new single “De Trop”. “De Trop” is the first track by the group that is not named with a chronological number and it’s a headnodding groovy track that instantly lingers in your brain.

Local heroes This Is Head are about to drop their new 12″ “De Trop” which is their first offering after their much acclaimed debut album “0001″. Brilliant outfit Korallreven adjusts the b-side track “0007″ into an extended and melancholic sounding balaericdisco affair with a lush softness that’s similar to a summer breeze.
