Swedish producer Name the Pet released her new album “Än” last week, the album consists of ten soulful, electronic pop songs intertwining Name the Pets smooth vocals with playful productions inspired by British dance music from the 00’s as well as the early works of Sade.

“You know when a car passes in London and you hear some really nice beat playing from the open car window, that’s the vibe I was going for with “Radion lovar regn”, says Name the Pet referring to the first song on the album.”

As a songwriter, producer and boss of her own label, Name the Pet is a part of an emerging scene of female producers in Stockholm.

French rap duo PNL should rightfully be considered the rap kings of France, they just dropped their fourth album “Deux Frères” (translates to “two brothers”) and it’s the perfect follow up to their internationally acclaimed 2016 album “Dans La Légende”.

The album is spearheaded by single “Au DD” (the visual for the track is said to be the first music video to be filmed inside of the Eiffel Tower and has already amassed 45+ million views on YouTube). The new album marks a progression in their sound, a sound that’s taken them from rapping about selling drugs in Paris to a deeper, more brooding soundscape on the new album. A soundscape that is now laced with a melodic flow and contains darker lyrics dealing with themes such as loss, loneliness, resentment, anger, and revenge.

Lisbon producer/dj and Enchufada founder Branko drops his beautiful sounding album “Nosso” that mixes subtle electronica with a clubbier sound that echoes of kuduro and bass.

Acclaimed artist Nadia Ali might be more known for her clubbier dance pop sound. After years of intensely touring packed venues and festivals, she took a step back, retreating into a home in the Southern California mountains to explore new tempos and sounds thus starting new project HYLLS. The project began as an exchange of ideas between Ali and her collaborators a Grammy-nominated team of musicians (whose identities remain anonymous). HYLLS marks a transition into a subdued sound of organic instruments and cinematic textures. The new HYLLS album “Once” was just released last Thursday and can be streamed below.

Malmö based artist Guleed (known for his superb previous singles and his work together with the Malmö New Wave crew) drops his debut album “50 grader i februari” today, and it’s already a strong contender for Swedish rap album of the year. 14 tracks that showcases his mesmerizing flow and his unrivalled strength as an artist and lyricist.

The thing you love about Norwegian artist/crooner Unge Ferrari might just be the thing you hate about him, he’s unpredictable and something of a chameleon. With his debut album “Midt imellom magisk og manisk” (roughly translates to “Inbetween Magical and Manical”) that dropped today via Nora Collective, his lyrics and the theme of his tracks have never before hit this close to home.

It might not be unique or groundbreaking that an artist writes about their own life, the fact that you might have heard these stories before doesn’t take anything away from Unge Ferraris accomplishments with his album, he shows that it’s alright to sing about things that are difficult and at the same time he packages the tracks in productions that encourages you to have a good time.

“I’ve never worked on a more painful project than this, at times I pulled my hair and felt like crying because it felt like I wasn’t getting anything from the process. This album has made me feel prouder than anything else in my life”

With nominations for the Norwegian Grammys, platinum selling records, sold out tours, shows at the largest music festivals in Norway and beyond, praise both nationally and internationally it’s easy to forget that there’s two sides to every story. The last year has been both magical and manical for Unge Ferrari and the work with album has proven to be a therapeutic process where the result is an invitation to his feelings and to the hardships that he’s been through. A trip to the absolute bottom was needed for him to realize that he needed to make some serious changes in his life in order to make it out.

Luckily for us, both his spiritual journey and his physical journey from Miami to Haugesund in Norway culminates in his new album. He shows us that you never really know where he is at musically which the two album singles “Ung & Dum” and “Balkong” shows. The fact that he’s in constant movement but also puts his unique spin on everything he touches is what makes his unpredictability so welcoming. In collaboration with amazing producers such as internationally renowned producer Lido, Coucheron, Filip Kollsete, Vinter and Axxe his sound is defined and his constant search for progress makes the album “Midt imellom magisk og manisk” showcases a new side of Unge Ferrari but with a well-known foundation.
