After jamming on the new Eagle Mountain EP, I realized my oversight on this new, solo EP from Andres Aguirre, who one half of EM and released on bodytalk, a label helmed by Rey Aguilar, the other half of EM. On “Troubled Waters,” Aguirre flexes his diverse tastes over the course of four original tunes and touches base on funky bass riffs, silky keys, hypnotic samples and otherworldly percussion.

Just released on Portuguese house label, Colour In Music, is the latest from south Texas duo, Eagle Mountain. Comprised of heavyweight producers, Rey Aguilar and Andres Aguirre, the pair have a number of accolades under their individual belts including releases on Chris Fortier’s Fade Recordings, collaborations with Funk D’Void (as The Tweakers), DJing with the likes of Justin Martin and counting Maceo Plex as a fan. Their unique brand of vintage, analogue infused house music is bold, hypnotic and aimed steadily at wrecking dance floors.

Their new EP, “Destiny” is chalked full of beefy beats and smooth, soulful samples… which is perfectly epitomized on the opening title cut. Clocking in at close to nine minutes, this epic excursion into filtered, deep house sounds is sure to tickle and tease many a club-goer’s fancy. The Luca Doobie remix follows up nicely with a darker, 808 laden treatment pairing ominous reverb sweeps with extended breakdowns. “All Is Fair” is the deepest of the bunch with a minimal, psychedelic groove and closing joint, “Swimming Pool,” is an uptempo, disco-house burner.
