Art Nouveau – Demento Mori Mix

French duo Art Nouveau just dropped their new “Air France” EP on Danish up and coming label Demento Mori, it’s a lovely affair that includes remixes from fellow frenchman Gucci Vump and US/Canadian bassenhanced combo LOL Boys. The boys threw together a fine sounding mix (that includes some Discobelle Records love) to promote the release and it’s definetely brightened up our day.

Art Nouveau – Air France / Souk EP

The new EP on Demento Mori from Reims, France housemeisters Art Nouveau is sounding pretty fresh.

Tough to pick a favorite with the clanging mariachi band clatter of “Souk” and the tropical hustle of “Air France”, but the standout might absolutely have to be their LOL Boys collaboration “Air France II”, rightfully dubbed “ephemeral juking house” by a friend. LOL Boys are known for their meme-like adaptability, but this one sounds absolutely anthemic, and possibly could usurp all their other efforts as the jam that they come to be known for authoring. The vocal sample choice alone should be used to treat depression.

Gucci Vump also turn in some work that reminds me of arriving in a Tokyo airport after a seventeen hour flight; half delirious from all the free drinks the stewardess served you, a bit nauseous from the turbulence, and trying to figure out when your ears are going to pop.

EP drops on February 28th, but to tide you over, you can listen to the whole sh-bang below:

Art Nouveau

A bit of a slow sunday here at the Discobelle office but we we’re glad to find this gem courtesy of French duo Art Nouveau in our inbox. They’re about to drop their debut EP this fall on Copenhagen based label Demento Mori and in the meantime here’s two absolutely stunning tracks for us to enjoy.

“The two Reims-based producers Andrea Starosse and Julien Salman started working together under their moniker Art Nouveau after running into each other in a clubnight in – ironically enough – Paris. They create a rich and colourful sound that’s inspired by different forms of house music but they also draw a lot inspiration from world music, which is clearly audible in their universal sound. In the past they have sent out demos to the Australian duo Yolanda Be Cool who picked up their single “Miracle” to get a release on their label Sweat It Out! and meanwhile they’ve been working together with Get Flavor Records too. Being playlisted by the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, having steady support from Brodinski and a couple of upcoming releases in sight, the future for these two young French producers looks bright.”

Animism

The “Animism EP” release from French producer/dj and member of the Youngunz crew – Bambounou – came out today and it’s a tropical storm ready to pulverize dancefloors on both sides of the Equator. The EP contains 3 original tracks + remixes from Teki Latex & LOL Boys, French Fries, Art Nouveau and Dre Skull. Thanks to the good people over at Mixpak, we can give you the track “Dogon” which albeit is not on the EP it’ll give a sweet taste of exactly what Bambounou is all about.

Teki Latex – Dinosaurs With Guns, remix competition winners

We present you with the winners of the “Dinosaurs With Guns” remix competition that we did together with Sound Pellegrino and Institubes.

“Thanks to the hundred-and-twenty-something people who participated in that remix competition, it took us a bit of time to listen to everything while touring Australia and North America but we picked our top 5 remixes and put together a little selection of a few more cool remixes for you to dig out, complete with humble but hopefully helpful feedback courtesy of the Sound Pellegrino founding fathers Orgasmic and I + Dinosaurs with Guns OG producer Noob’s pick.

#1 – TWR72

Wins a spot on the Dinosaurs With Guns remix EP coming before the end of the summer!

Orgasmic’s opinion: really dope techno warehouse hit, we’ve been following Roger 72 for a while, I used to play his DJ DLG remix, he’s an excellent producer and I really like this new, more techy style of his.
Teki Latex’s opinion: I also remember The Walk & Roger 72 from the MySpace era. What a drastic change in style! This is awesome abrupt mountain climbing techno, it’s a great tool and an absolute weapon for DJs, this is definitely the remix I’m the most likely to play, great job!

#2 – Art Nouveau

Wins 50€ worth of Institubes/Sound Pellegrino items from the Institubes online store!

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J15F9S8B

Orgasmic’s opinion: Really cool melody, has a bit of a white knight II vibe to it, sounds like a potential summer hit.
Teki Latex’s opinion: Art Nouveau are getting better with every track and they embrace their pop side more and more, while keeping it classy and housy, this is a success! Coincidentally this remix uses a bassline melody/harmony very similar to the DOP remix of Renaissance Man’s What is Guru, which proves great minds think alike.

#3 – Gloved Up

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0I1WOZ8X

Orgasmic’s opinion: sweet baile funk horns mixed with a nice housy vibe, love the melody
Teki Latex’s opinion: awesome bouncy house stomper. I just have a problem with the simpletext voice at the beginning. We needed something with wind instruments so that Roundtable Knights could play it :)

The Gloved Up remix is also Noob’s special pick! Kudos!

#4 – Broke One

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NNRZNEA4

Orgasmic’s opinion: really nice one, well produced and right in the vibe of the stuff we dig at the moment, only problem: too much synth in the breakdown
Teki Latex’s opinion: Super nice and original but gets a bit too heavy and repetitive towards the end

#5 – Clouds

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1LUZQXRN

Orgasmic’s opinion: Nice groove, solid remix
Teki Latex’s opinion: efficient and tool-esque but a bit too similar to the original

Places 6-12 after the jump.
