Black Butter Records, a UK label constructing a mopey little edifice with signings such as Kidnap Kid and Joel Compass, are taking bets on Solomon Grey. The BBC’s trained parrot Zane Lowe just enjoyed a cracker and is tipping this duo for future BBC Radio One dominance. Discobelle’s online contemporaries are similarly all collecting a number and joining the queue – comments like ‘hauntingly beautiful’ and ‘lovelorn’ and ‘gee, this is pretty good music’ can be heard wafting over the assembly.
Is it good? Is it bad? Could you craft a seaworthy vessel out of it? We love it, but stream away yourself and let us know your take.

London based Joel Compass has undeniable talent. This British boy is not only a producer, but an exceptional songwriter, something that he showcases in his dark R&B tune “Astronaut”.
Gearing up for it’s release September 10th on Black Butter Records, Compass has gotten some of the best up and coming producers to give “Astronaut” the remix treatment, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. Henry Krinkle takes it down a notch making the song extra slow and sexy, while Billon uses heavy tech house influences turning it into a danceable late night tune. Every remix in this package brings something unique and lovely to the table, so make sure to check out all of the versions down below.
