UK born and bred dance label Night Slugs could very well be named label of the year with an impeccable record of releases that have had people dancing to their bassy sounds all over the world, here they – label founders and head honchos Bok Bok & L-Vis 1990 – team up with NYC clothing label Mishka and the 20th edition of their Keep Watch Mix Series for what could be one of the mixes of the year.

The Night Slugs fam comes with their fourth release and it’s another huge one! Premier UK Funky/grime producer Lil Silva gives us the “Night Skanker EP” and to promote this absolute monster we have the splendid track “No Hooks” which was released as a white label last month but is long gone.

Our friends over at Palms Out just dropped this bomb of a release on us with the Marcus Price & Carli EP entitled “Mat Bira Kvinnor Weed” (which is Swedish for “Food Beer Women Weed”).

The title track can only be described as being a: “bouncy ride for your backside – sub bass booming, skittering whistles, booty bumps and scratched robot voices for days. We already fed you the Kingdom remix (other remixers include Dubbel Dutch and Crazy Pays) of said track a few months ago but we’ll give you new chance to grab it below. On the B-side we find “Var E Näääken” (which translated mean “Where is Näääken?”, Näääken being their formerly incarcerated home boy) which delves even deeper into bass cabinets destruction. Huge 808s, persistent snares, and shuffling shakers make for a huge party starter. (Remixers for the b-side are Bok Bok, Girl U.N.I.T and Norrit)

If haven’t heard about Ashland aka Total Freedom and the Los Angeles tuesday hangout Wildness then you’ve been sleeping. Like a missionary of bass he blends in effortless with NYC hipsters, LA coolcats, London grimeslugs, and Mexican ravers. I’ve heard big name DJs like Paul Devro and Bok Bok say that Total Freedom is the no1 selecta in America! If that’s not enough for you I don’t know what. Here is on of TFs party edits where he takes an Ize & DJ Miki track and adds a pinch of vocals from the track “Desire” by Nu Colours. Enjoy!

Diamond K & Al Ripken Jr – Hands In The Air (Cobra Krames remix)

I wanna scream BALTIMORE!!!, In my heart my second home. Long time has passed without some proper B-more here on Discobelle but now Diamond K and Al Ripken Jr gets our “Hands Up In the Air” once more! Whos running this club? Probably Top Billin with this new release “Hands In The Air EP” and as always they bring out the big guns. Reloading this time is Night Slugs own big boss Bok Bok, Montreal’s beat wonderboy Lunice and Finnish dubstep champ Tes La Rok, under his more funky alias Trusta, is flipping the B-side “Single Ladies Single Fellas”. Finally we got our Awesome Agency colleague Cobra Krames and we got his remix for free download below and it gives the original a somewhat more caribbean feel.

Night Sluggin’

Freak Like Me

Brooklyn producer Brenmar does a smashing rendition of the classic ghetto house track “Freak Like Me”, originally made by Chicago legend DJ Deeon. Already playlisted by the Night Slugs massive (ie Bok Bok, Manara & L-Vis 1990) along with Ikonika, this remix is essentially a sped up version with some classic chopping of the vocals but simple is often the way to go and this is nothing short of gold.
