J-Wow – 2011 Hard Ass Mix

J-Wow from Portuguese party/bass/kuduro collective Buraka Som Sistema put together a promo mix for the new “Hard Ass Sessions Vol. VI” release on Enchufada (which features among others Brenmar and Schlacthofbronx). The mix is made up entirely of tracks from the current & previous Hard Ass Sessions compilations, as expected this will make you shake your booty.

Poirier – Vivendo Juntos (video)

The Enchufada label, home of kuduro kings Buraka Som Sistema, this week the label releases the fifth in their Hard Ass Sessions series featuring an international line-up consisting of NYC producer/dj Kingdom, Montreal’s world traveller Poirier, Bert on Beats and Pocz & Pocheko, each of whom have risen to the challenge and created their own unique take on a kuduro beat.

Montreal’s Poirier should be well known for the avid Discobelle reader, he is a rising DJ/producer who, in his own words, focuses his productions on “the fusion of Caribbean and electronic music.” Never afraid to integrate a myriad of influences in his music, he rose to the Hard Ass challenge admirably with the track “Vivendo Juntos”, his first ever foray into kuduro and you can check out the video above.

Diamond Bass – ‘All That’

Lisbon based label Enchufada (home of Buraka Som Sistema) present their latest release: ‘Se Prepara’, the debut EP from global bass producer Diamond Bass, a trademark mix of international House/Kuduro/Baile Funk & Dubstep.

In this case, the ‘Se Prepara’ EP shows the raw power of well chopped samples and insistent Latin vocals melding over intense builds and tribal Kuduro beats, with Buraka Som Sistema member J-WOW’s Club Edit upping the tempo even further. We’ve got the unreleased Diamond Bass track “All That” to share with you, a bumping cross between traditional house and bass heavy turbulence. Grab the release @ Juno Records.

Dr Martens/Buraka Som Sistema Giveaway

Dr Martens is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and is bringing music and fashion together, working with ten contemporary artists to reinterpret cult classic tracks.

Each new track was released as a free download on the Dr Martens website, in addition, directors including Rankin, Ace Norton, Rupert Sanders and Don Letts have crafted bespoke videos.

As we posted about before one of the artist involved was Buraka Som Sistema with their take on Neneh Cherry’s ‘Buffalo Stance’.

Now we got a pair of Black Limited Edition DMs 1460 (UK Size 8) signed by Buraka Som Sistema – plus a copy of their cover of Neneh Cherry’s ‘Buffalo Stance’ on vinyl to give away from it.

J-Wow, AKA Joao Barbosa the dj of acclaimed Portuguese kuduro collective Buraka Som Sistema, will drop his new single “Spark” on own label Enchufada October 18th. “Spark” gives us that stripped down raw kuduro feel with a trademark booty shaking bass and infectious synth lines. New shining star, French producer Canblaster topples the track over and gives it a hypnotically looped synthbased feel.
