Toronto based duo Southern Shores (Jamie Townsend and Ben Dalton) released their first EP for New York label Cascine back in 2011, with their new EP “Siena (Part I)” (due to be released on June 12th and the first of a two-part series) they aim to capture the feeling of an ocean breeze gently whipping a coastal town.

“The mood of the record is more of a sunset, rather than midday bliss. It’s that subtle melancholy that lies beneath the bright textural exterior”

The EP was written over the last year in Jamie and Ben’s shared residence – a hundred-year-old home in the Parkdale area of Toronto – the tracks on the EP contains sounds of tropicalia and funk that fade into the mix along with dreamy house and balearic.

We here at Discobelle can premiere the track “Tropea” (named after the Calabrian seaside town) which is a perfect example of the above-mentioned sound, a smooth and blissful balearic influenced jam that features a warm, funky groove and an organic sound.

We here at Discobelle have stellar exclusive for you all today. Tomorrow marks the release of the sophomore solo offering from Classixx’s Michael David, the “Melona” EP is released via New York label Cascine.

The sound of this stunning four-track EP is centered around a warm and breezy, balearic house vibe with a lush, almost ambient feel that’s absolutely in sync with the upcoming summer season.

“I’m so happy to have this release out in the world. During this time, releasing music can feel trivial, but I’ve had some very meaningful moments listening to music lately and it has helped me out. Hoping these tunes can provide even a brief moment of escapism for people feeling isolated.”

The four-month-long hiatus for the Discobelle mix series is over with this exclusive mix from Mt. Si.

Based in Los Angeles, Mt. Si is a collaborative project among three friends – Sarah Chernoff of Superhumanoids, Jesse Kivel from Kisses and Michael David of Classixx. They came together during the recording sessions for Classixx’s album “Hanging Gardens” and discovered that they had creative chemistry as a trio and assumed the name Mt. Si later signing with Cascine to release their 2016 EP “Limits” which is an exquisite piece of shimmering electronic pop.

Their mix for us here at Discobelle is filled with warm, discoish sounding electronic dance-pop gems including their recently released EP track “911” and the mix is the perfect way to gather up some heat whilst we over here in Europe are being pounded with an arctic freeze.

Tracklist after the jump.

We’re starting a new series on Discobelle where we will focus on up-and-coming indie labels from around the world. First up is New York/London’s Cascine, who we’ve been long time supporters of. There’s no denying how influential Cascine has become over the years, cementing a place in the Swedish pop sound for themselves. They’ve spearheaded releases and catapulted the careers of artists including Chad Valley, Korallreven, Lemonade, and Kisses to name a few. Just recently Cascine has launched a singles club called CSCN and releasing stand out tracks from Brooklyn’s Mirror Kisses, Canadian pop duo Vogue Dots, and rising producer Holly Waxwing. Take a listen to some of our favorite Cascine releases from the past below and visit them online at http://www.cascine.us/releases.

Stockholm producer/dj Yourhighness remixes the single track “Formulär 1A” from Swedish group Ditt Inre, the single is released by NYC label Cascine. Yourhighness treats us to a “proto house” sounding epic dub remix that certainly lives up to its name, more than 8 minutes long it features an old school house feel and has a steady, rolling, soulful beat playing off dreamful vocals for all those late night dancefloors.
