Willy Joy – Woman Like Me (Cousin Cole Remix)

Top Billin’ just won’t slow down with its barrage of good dance music. That’s a good thing for everybody though with the exception of those unfamiliar to the label who might be overwhelmed with where exactly to start. Well, let us suggest that you start with the new forthcoming remix EP of Willy Joy’s “Woman Like Me” single.

In particular, you could start with Cousin Cole’s steamy tech-house twisting of the original into a bumpy fog machine house workout for the ages. Departing a bit from the chilled out ecstatic vibes of the folk remixes found within Cole’s old Tambourine Dream mix CDs, this direction keeps the addictiveness of his Neil Young edits, but with that the extra “oomph” that Willy Joy’s track deserves.

All Of The Lights (Cousin Cole Club Mix)

The best cousin you could have – Brooklyn based producer/dj Cousin Cole decides to share his remix of the Kanyeezy track “All Of The Lights” which he beefs up for da club. Enjoy!

“I always thought the drums on the original sounded like a mess on a loud system, so basically the purpose of this is to go harder in “the club.” Also rearranged it a little for more chorus and less (read: zero) Fergie.”

Rolling In The Deep (Cousin Cole remix)

After Jamie XX put his magic touch on this, our good friend over in NYC Cousin Cole takes a shot at a remix of that beautiful Adele track “Rolling In The Deep” where he keeps the shuffle and add some juicy bits, US funky for the masses…

Manicured Noise – Metronome (Cousin Cole remix)

This is the latest remix from Cousin Cole, which came out monday on Caroline True Records. Manicured Noise was a late 70s post-punk band from Manchester – it’s a remix of their song “Metronome” which was done for a remix EP along with mixes from Pocketknife, Jon Da Silva (resident at the legendary Hacienda club in the 80s/90s), and Wedderkopp + Taylor. Here’s a description from Cole:

I took the song on a pretty different direction from the original (big sax!) and it has gotten a great response with all kinds of crowds as I’ve been playing it out over the past few months — probably the biggest response of anything I’ve done recently. The label gave me a short edit to send out to blogs. It’s missing the second half of the track (with the big breakdown) but it’s a good bitrate.

Tambourine Dream

We just received an e-mail from NYC producers/djs Cousin Cole and Pocketknife:

“Our “Tambourine Dream” mix CD has been sold out for a long time now, and Pocketknife and I are hard at work on the sequel. In the mean time, we decided to upload the first one for streaming.”

This folky mix CD was our soundtrack for the better part of this spring and summer so go check it out.

RCMP

We did a post about RCMP back in February when their tracks made us dream of summer. Now their debut, the “RCMP EP”, is about to drop on Flamin Hotz in a joint venture with Young Robots (street date is June 23rd, vinyl only and it comes backed with remixes from Cousin Cole and Pumpkin Patch). This track “Ibiza, PA” is on that warm, fuzzy tip with discohouse elements of epic proportions.

“RCMP is the creation of DJ Apt One and Relative Q. They make dance music for those who yearn to be unpretentious and animalistic creatures of the discothèque. DJ Apt One, Philadelphia DJ and member of Philadelphyinz, joined with Pittsburgh’s Relative Q in the Spring of 2008 to assemble several remixes. Ultimately, the two saw a mutual understanding of the visceral power of the musical bond between Cold War Europeans and their robot slaves. Studio experimentation led them to record “Mustache Love”, a track which brought a symphony of synths, conga players and strings to bear in a classic, but forward-thinking compositional style. Soon, the sound infiltrated some of the most influential discothèques in the world. It is rumored that babies conceived to this song are being groomed to lead a number of former Soviet republics. Their collaboration produced the body of work that is now known as the RCMP EP. Notable for its sophistication (“Mustache Love”), its cathartic emotional content “(Ibiza, PA”), its soaring grandiosity (“The Bird AKA Ignition”) and its brain-melting infectiousness (“USA Groove”), RCMP has been leaving dance floors aglow in pheremones, sweat and love.”
